(attempt to) destroy an esee

I'm pretty sure it'll end up the same given that 1095 shouldn't be that different from 1095 CroVan.

There was the guy who decided to baton and ESEE 5 through a Becker BK2 and then did it the other way around. The ESEE 5 has a lower saber grind, and therefore a thicker grind, so it sustained marginally less damage. That pretty much tells you all you need to know about how it would fare in that test, just slightly better. No need to try it IMO....

Both of those knives (BK2 and ESEE 5) are fantastic and the destruction stuff has been done to death. You can spend 50ish for the Becker or roughly double that for the ESEE and in either case, you get a knife that will do its job well and will likely outlive you and and generations of your offspring.

Yay!
Now I can get an ESEE 6, and cut swords in half!
Can't wait for the ESEE katana!

Who wants to try that with their Busse. Or a Scrapyard 711.

Nice thing about the BK2--you aren't afraid to put it to the test. It's always going to be a better knife for tough use in some ways because you'll actually be willing to risk destroying it. Not as true of the other knives out there. Sure, maybe they're marginally better at tough use. But that's going to be marginal, and the fact that you can buy 2 BK2's for the price of an ESEE 5, or more for most of the other popular options... Suffice it to say that the BK2 is a LOT of knife for the price.
