Today I just received a letter from the Danish Legal Affairs Committee. It has confirmed that they have received my letter and that they have forwarded it to all members of the committee. I was excited when I read this letter because I hope all of our letters can help in some way. I scanned the letter and I am hosting it so all can read it.

The Letter

Edited to add: I was just thinking, airmail sure got my letter there fast!

Actually, I'm really glad to see such a confirmation notice. It shows that at least they weren't all just thrown into a shredder pile. I'll post if I get one too. FYI, what I wrote was basically that I believe restricting the carry and ownership of all knives would not have any effect on those who already flaunt the law. It would only punish law-abiding citizens, and I see it as the restriction of a basic human right. Hopefully it will have some effect on their decision, they should have recieved at least 30 or 40 from the US due to the post here on BF.

Brownie, I was going to either host the Word file or copy and paste what I wrote, but I just realized I reformatted my computer not too long ago :( . Basically what I said was similar to Roadrunner's; how it is taking away the right of carrying from law abiding citizens, and how the baddies will do whatever they please despite any laws (just like any other law banning some item...)

Edited to add (I really need to think through all of my posts before I hit the button!): I am really excited about this letter, I have it posted on my bulletin board on my desk! I like how the guy said he supplied all members of the committee a copy of my letter for review. He even personally signed it!

Thanks for the initiative. I hope it works. I too have written a letter to the Danish Legal Affairs Committee and e-mailed it to folketinget@folketinget.dk. In Denmark the government considers an e-mail as important as a letter. They have to answer both. The letter is in Danish but if anybody is interested I can post it.

Hi Guys!
I'm really glade to see that few on this forum care for our interests in Denmark!!! You guys can still make it by sending E-mails! Thank you all!
Oliver

Thank you very much.

I sent out letter to alot of politicians a few weeks back and it seems like it could help...one party of the commitee made a 180 and started to work against it..!

Thanks for your help F-22! Appreciate it a lot!

Jens, well done! Noticed that very sudden change too!:) We really need politicians who aren't afraid of moving against the stream!
(Looking forward to my small Sheepsfoot, BTW!:D )

Later today I will right an e-mail to the address mentioned above.

I just got my letter as well. It's worded the same as F-22's, so it must be form letter (I figured it was), but it's still hand-signed and had to be shipped internationally. To my way of thinking this means it at least had some small impact, they took the time and expense to send me confirmation notice at least.

If you are interested in seeing what happens to your letters and follow what other opinions is brought forward you can follow this link directly into the Danish Parliament (Danish Legal Affairs Committee) http://www.ft.dk/Samling/20031/MENU/00814640.htm . In Denmark we have total transparency nearly nothing is kept as a secret. Here you can see letters no. 167 and 185 concerning the matter of knives.

Enjoy.
Carl

Really neat how they scanned all the letters and made a PDF file of them. Even has my crappy looking signature! Mine is letter number 167.

Only 187 letters on the subject? Och. C'mon people just send a polite e-mail...its free!

I sent an e-mail. Don't know if it did any good, but I did send one. :)
