I just found out about this and I just thought I would let ALL of you know about it, in case you didnt. There is a new assault weapons ban in the works. The 110th Congress has held their 1st session concerning bill: H.R. 1022: To reauthorize the assault weapons ban, and for other purposes. I would strongly urge you to read this bill and contact your state representative before its too late. I understand that this is a knife site, but most knife guys are gun guys, and I love Busse Combat knives, that is why I put this up here. I hope all is well with you Mike, if you monitor this. God bless us all, Aaron:)

My bad. I was wrong. Call your reps!

Alright, I was part right and part wrong. SB0016 is before the IL legislature and it is an assault weapons ban. S. 1022 is a federal bill and my stand on it is the same as the IL bill, it didn't do a darned thing to curb crime the first time, what are they wasting time for? Spend your time on the floor of the legislature doing something that will help folks. Tell your reps to get on the phone and call the freaking judges and prosecuting attorneys. Get those bums to prosecute under the laws currently on the books instead of wasting precious time and money chasing after something that failed to do what they intended it to do. Diane Feinstein needs to find another hobby or something!

Next thing you know they will outlaw bong hits 4 Jesus! No, wait there's sumthin' on FOX news right now...

Maybe one day i will peruse politics... Senator Ironballs has a good ring to it. I would stick some ludicrous rider on the thing and assure it became impassable, like 900 trillion to the united black scholarship fund, or to arm all citizens of age with ar15/1911 in the name of national defense... (but now with line item veto, can't really sink a bill that way)..

I thought the government was suppose to work FOR the people, not AGAINST them. Maybe Im thinking of Hitler.:thumbdn:

In our system, politicians work for the section of the people they feel sympathetic to -- or who they feel will re-elect them. Or, occasionally, for moneyed groups with similar agendas.

Our problem is the current crop of politicians isn't, mostly, working for 'us.'

Please Call Your Rep, This Type Of Bill Is Something We Are Going To Have To Fight! The Bastids Are Going To Keep Trying To Get Something Past. You Think They Would Learn After The 2004 Election Don't F#*% With Gun And Knife People!!!!!!!!!!

Just imagine if this bill passes.... NO more AR-15's. NO more magazine fed guns PERIOD!! NO more C-Beta magazines..... ALL GONE. Ammo is already going through the roof. Also there is NO sunset on this bill people. Think: Austrailia. THINK: England. Hell, they have banned shotguns in Cook county Illinois and this type of crap is happening all over. And it wont stop at this bill either. Next it will be the "assault knives". My gun dealer told me today that the manufacturers are starting to produce stripper clip guns. Now that should scare EVERYONE. The writing is on the wall.

You are right HRK we were talking last week about this at the local gun shop this is serious and people were coming in ordering AR'S and even a ruger 10-22 and he was having to back-order a lot of them.

Ha, you think that's bad, read this one hot off the wire:
NEW YORK (AP) - The agency best known for enforcing security at the nation's airports will soon be sending its marshals onto New York's commuter railroads.

The Transportation Security Administration is among several policing agencies that will boost the law enforcement presence on the Metro-North Railroad, the Long Island Rail Road and the Staten Island Railway, the Metropolitan Transportation Authority announced Wednesday.

"This combined deployment of MTA police and officers from a variety of federal and regional sources will give our commuter railroads the kind of police presence our customers deserve and the post-9/11 environment requires," said Elliot G. Sander, the MTA's executive director.

Citing security concerns, officials would not say how many new officers would be patrolling the trains and platforms, but MTA spokesman Jeremy Soffin said the number would be "dramatically higher."

The new security plan is called the Directed Patrol Strategy. It began last week with a new deployment plan for MTA officers and 50 dogs trained to sniff out explosives.

Beginning next week, other agencies will join the program. Besides TSA marshals, passengers will see state police, county police from Westchester, Nassau, Suffolk and other counties and local police from dozens of towns and villages, Soffin said.

New York City police will take part at railroad stations in the Bronx, Queens and Staten Island. All patrols will be assigned in random patterns.

Officials said the new patrols could do random bag searches. They said the bulked-up force would be a permanent addition to the MTA security plan.

Sander said the federal government should spend more on rail security. The MTA said Washington spends $7.50 per airline passenger but just a cent and a half per mass transit passenger.

But Robert Jamison, deputy administrator of the TSA, said, "We are focused on our nation's high-risk, high-consequence rail systems and delivering visible, unpredictable deterrents to these systems."

Random bag searches on the train, what about probable cause? What if they don't find a bomb, then can they bust you for something else they see, like drugs, or knives, or tools, or booze, or porn, or negative political material?

This stinks. What's worse is this will do nothing to reduce the terrorist threat.

I don't understand how 'liberals' see this stance as liberal at all? Anyone with a brain had to see this as inevitable after last November's indictment on the Neo Cons, or was that just me?

The good news is my stockpile of hi cap mags will quadruple in value. Stock up!
