Geeze Louise, what a demanding bunch!
Impressions! Photos!
Normally I charge for that stuff,

but....OK.
Blade is reminiscent of my Swamp Works Desert Battle Rat in thickness, color, and forward blade profile. The thickness inspires confidence, the tan coating & micarta should keep it fractionally cooler in the desert. Not much point for "pointy" work, but it doesn't look like it'll be very fragile, it should dig just fine if necessary, and I didn't buy it to stab with (I'm a peaceable sort nowdays.). Mixed feelings on the choil; it takes away a fair amount of rear cutting edge where I sometimes like it, but it also lets me choke up on the blade for finer work with a more forward grip to change the handling dynamics, so that's probably a wash.
The blade has less forward heft for chopping than the longer Desert Rat, which was a concern I had in ordering it, but there's enough weight there to still do a pretty fair job on small trees, limbs, and so on if needed. The slightly shorter blade I regard as a compromise; I like the longer DR, but (if somebody will get Dwayne a sample knife for patterning) this FSH will ride better on the Rhino & in the truck than a longer blade while giving better performance in severe conditions than a shorter blade.
The handle is a bit off in my hands; I'd prefer a thicker palm swell, and it could be about half an inch shorter in the gripping section of the grip. But, I'll grow my hand into it as it is, and the long grip gives two bonuses- it'll fit well with reasonably thick gloves, and it provides some longer "slide room" to move the hold back and change the leverage for a three-fingered chopping grip. The linen micarta is rough in texture, I ordered it for that reason. It'll resist twisting and sliding in the hand under force and in a wet hold much better than that smooth black handle material Buck's used on their classic fixed blades for decades, for example.
Just first impressions. I won't be using it to mow the lawn or remove trees from the back yard (I use more efficient tools & machinery for that), so won't know much about it in use till it actually hits the field, and that depends, right now, entirely foursquare & deadcenter on Dwayne getting my sheath done for it.
All in all, I have no doubts it'll do what I bought it to do.
Did that help? (Remember, I never said I'd have sex with it.

)
I'll see what I can do for a photo, may be a day or two.
