Here is a WWII model, 16.5 inches and a hefty 1 pound, 10 ounces made and marked by Murali. The fit is very good, finish is magic stone mirror and the hardness is 60 Rc +, very hard. The karda and chakma are quite good. Scabbard is very nicely made and tooled (Himalayas and Swayambunath temple) by the sarki with no name and the frog is the 100 year HI superfrog.

What's wrong with this rig? The above pix tells it all and you can fix it with superglue.

We will deliver this rig to your door for $75.

Wood experts can you tell what kind of wood this is? It looks almost like cherry to me but I don't know anything about wood which is why I'm asking.

Call or email if interested.

I have one almost like that, only it's under 16". Oddly, it just doesn't turn me on.
Having said that, the idea of a $75 16.5 WWII and a used but rock solid 4" fixed sight 38 special S&W model 10 or Colt Official Police for about $175 ( a total of $250 for both ) repeated four times seems a much more sensible way of spending a thousand than a $25O Randall #1 with a $750 (Glock/HK/Sig/Walther/etc)auto.

I have not, however, done the above ( well, kinda, sorta, if you must look at it that way even if it isn't precisely what I actually did... ).

Uncle Bill, is that blade sold ??

For another perspective, my Prakash made 16.5" WWII is definitely one of my favorites.

Why? The handle is perfect in the way it fits my hand. It was as if Prakash measured me before it was made.

The blade size, length, and weight is excellent for a variety of uses. And then there is that ephemeral connection to the fighting men we have come to admire so much.

Funny thing is, I ordered an 18"er and this what Uncle Bill sent to me "by accident".

Just goes to show you that the khukuri sometimes chooses you.

Now, if my inbound Kesar made 18" WWII has the same feel in the hand (I already know it's beautiful)it will be an exceptional khukuri.

Blues,
Another 18" WW2?? You just completed my study of HIKV,I "now" understand everything about it!I CAN HEAR Rusty now!!No, fooling! You all, just refuse to understand.Quit shaking your head,Blues! I'M not "NUTS" & "I'M NOT SUFFERING"! EVERYTHING IS JUST FINE!

Blues, I have an 18" WWII by Kesar, and it is really nice. Uncle told me Kesar tries hard to stick to spec, which is a very good thing when you're talking about HI specs! Not that I don't appreciate the khuks by the kamis who have their own specs (like Sher, for instance), but in some situations lighter weight is preferable to utter indestructability. Kesar makes an excellent, beautifully shaped, very symmetrical blade that meets or surpasses HI's standards. I only wish mine was marked!

But then, that's how I got the great deal on it.

BTW-Kesar makes very nice, usable, decent-sized kardas & chakmas too!

"President Clinton learned there were 100,000 cattle guards in Colorado. Since Clinton was so upset with ranchers' protests over his grazing policies, he told U.S. Secretary of Interior Bruce Babbitt to fire half the cattle guards immediately. Before Babbitt could proceed with the President's wishes, Colorado representative Pat Schroeder intervened with a request that before any were fired, they would be given six months of retraining."

No, Jim, not "another" 18" WWII. My first WWII of that size. I do have one 16.5" WWII by Prakash that was sent to me in error when I ordered the 18" some time back. I decided to keep it.

Now, the Kesar made khukuri (referred to above) will make the WWII size set complete.

10-4?

X-Head,

Thanks for that info. Uncle mentioned to me that it was a 10/10 when I inquired about it, and when I saw that lovely wood handle I was sold. Well, truth be told, I was sold before that as I had sent the money on his recommendation alone.
