I am not certain if this is the right place or not so if its in the wrong place please move it.

I recently finished reading ALL of the threads about the TL-29 Electricians knife and I found something interesting on the SOG Knife company's website.

They sell a knife that is similar to the TL-29 Electricians knife.

it is Called the Contractor III now it is not nearly as beautiful as the as the old TL-29 and its made a little different but its a good knife none the less.

Here is how the Contractor III is different the lock mechanism is on the back of the knife and the grips are a black and made of some sort of synthetic material and the SOG LOGO is stamped on the handles. But like I previously stated its a good knife.

So please consider taking a look at the SOG Contract III

I disagree. It uses a subpar steel (6CR12MOV) from China. If you are going to by a SOG, buy one of their Seki Japan ones. I would avoid this one personally. The kilowatt is a better one if you have to have a SOG, at least it uses AUS-8.

Get the Great Eastern Cutlery version that was made for Bladeforums member STR.

I'll take the GEC over the SOG any day. Luckily, I've got an old Imperial that works like a charm.

I would pretty much avoid sog except for the seki japan stuff which is great and some of the fixed blades are really good too, but im not a fan of much else they make. I think all of the knives they make are more expensive than they should be, even the awesome japan stuff. The good quality taiwan made competition like cs or some ontario folders give you a better knife, usually for less money but thats just my opinion. A good example of this though is a cs large voyager vs a sog trident, the cs is usually around 5-10 bucks cheaper and significantly stronger than the cheesy trident, which has a not so solid lockup and cheesy feeling zytel only handles.
