Its a great day today and felt like teasing you.

You asked for it.

Sorry- the picture is pretty crummy and wont haunt your dreams as much as its supposed to.

It could be me, but I think the light part of the ivory has turned yellow over the years (on the folder). Its nice though.

Hey Jon,

Two knives you know I really love. The bowie looks even better than I remember it! Great pics. The folder is a piece of Hanson history. It might be getting a bit of a patina but it still looks wonderful!

Thanks for taking the time to photograph and post these!!!

That fighter has Pazazz! Has always been a Hanson favorite of mine. Thanks for the new images, Jon.

Rob, if Jon ever let loose of that, I might have to arm wrestle you for it. Well, on second thought, maybe not. ;) :D

Beautiful Bowie.
I like everything about it.
The slender graceful curve of the blade looks great, but the mellow hue of the handle is out of this world.

Hey now, Joe...I believe you have hidden skills in arm wrestling and possibly in the combative arts! If Jon ever decides to part with it perhaps a round of Rock, Paper, Scissors :D No real rocks or scissors.

Two of my favorites Jon! Seems at one point you want to sell that fighter, I think I told you to keep it. ;)

I have another orange walrus bowie/fighter for Blade and it is the last of my orange ivory...

Yes you did, and I think I offered it to Rob at the moment.. and he couldn't make the move at the time.. if I remember correctly.

I am glad I didn't sell it and haven't thought about it since.

Ahhhh, Grasshopper. Couldn't or wouldn't? :)

My wife has saved me from selling several "originals" from collections (original comic art, knives, etc) that I could never replace. I also have parted with things that I can never recover and deeply regret those decisions.

Dude, this was your first fixed blade. Back then we had discussions about putting hard earned cash into it vs. staying the course on a folder focused collection. I had the pleasure of seeing you take delivery at Blade and how happy you were. I couldn't, in good conscience, take this knife from you. Today, you have some mighty fine straight knives and I'm glad you expanded your knife collecting horizons.

Having said that...if you ever decide to sell it please don't forget me! I promise I'll come up with an entertaining contest that pits Joe "Canine" against me for ultimate possession (no, not mud wrestling in the parking lot at Blade after the cutting competition).

There is another forumite who offered me a Wheeler I really wanted badly. He is a great guy and wanted to return a favor. I had the knife in hand and as I held it I knew he must have wanted to keep it. We chatted and I sent the knife back to him. Would I love to have it, hell yeah. Would I feel good about it, no sir.

I guess the lesson here is to really consider the reason you acquired a knife in the first place and if there is meaning beyond steel and handle that it has for you. Once gone, hard to recover.

The attached is original art by my favorite comic artist that I came close to selling. It is a tribute piece to my wife. The cash offer was enticing but I am so glad I didn't sell it. Side note, she does not have a primitive warrior outfit like that but I'll bet Paranee has a skull that is close to the one in the pic! :D

That folder is a great piece, Jon.
The big Bowie/fighter does it for me though.
Thanks for the pics.

Doug

Rob thats a cool picture! And I do appreciate your explanation and can say for certain i'm very glad to still own it. I can't see it leaving my collection, its a special piece. Don't worry though you won't be forgotten if anything funny happens again.

Thanks Doug!
