It pains me to say this but the Dagger Sam had made for his MS Testing in Atlanta has gone missing

It supposedly left France and arrived in the U.S.

Tracking can not find it

Hopefully this is just a horrible mix up and it shows up

But if not please everyone keep an eye out for this piece

Thank you and we all know Sam is man enough to rise to the occasion

An alarming headline. Stolen or lost in transit? Might be either.

Once you know: who is the shipper? BIG differences.

Thanks for the heads up. We are ALL wishing for better.

that sucks. I shared it on my facebox. Hope he finds it.

Hello Joe!

Sorry to hear Sam's dagger gone missing! Can I use the images for an Instagram shout as well?

Best,
Alex

i'm feeling sorry for your lost, hope you will find a new one

Hello!

Some personal experience - over the last year I have had local postal service and most courriers (with the exception of FedEx) refuse shipping larger knives to the US. At times they refused to accept the parcel, at times the parcels were stopped at the border when the exit-scan to the US was done and showed a knife. My requests prompted a blank statement that transporting knives to the US (from the EU alltogether) was no longer allowed. I have had different experience with FedEx and know quite a few EU members that still ship to the US without problems.

Maybe that new trend arrived in Belgium and France now... The times the knives were stopped at the EU exit border, I was notified days later and billed the transportation cost back to my place...
Best,
Alex

That is a killer piece and I sure hope it shows up somewhere and makes it to Atlanta for testing. Wish there was more we could do to help.

Sorry to hear about this.

Unless you have more information that is provided here, I would certainly not jump to the conclusion at this point that it was stolen.

I bought a knife from South Africa last year. It made it to the US, and actually to an area service area just a few miles from my local post office. Then all tracking info suddenly stopped. I went down there and asked them to look for it. No luck. I filed a lost item form with the USPS. They told me they had no idea where it was and no way to find it. Basically I was told it was hopeless. MANY weeks later, it suddenly showed up. Package and contents were undamaged; label was intact and completely accurate. No one could tell me where it was all that time. Sh!t happens, I guess.

Anyway, I hope this will all turn out well for Sam, too. There are still a couple of weeks.

My requests prompted a blank statement that transporting knives to the US (from the EU alltogether) was no longer allowed.

Huh? Doesn't Boker still make some of its knives in Germany? They are no longer allowed to transport them to the US????

What about Sabatier knives from France? No longer can be transported for sale in the US?

Henckels? Wustoff?

No more Swiss Army Knives by Victoronix transported to the US?

There has to be more to it than that.

So sorry to hear about this, Joe. Must be tremendously confounding for Sam with Blade around the corner. Here's hoping it will turn up soon or be recognized by someone on our "grapevine" if, worst case scenario, a thief tries to move it.

Please let me know if I can help, although the ones here with broad social media exposure such as Lorien may be the best bet if it's theft.

Hopefully folks like I mentioned it has just gone missing but I wanted to use the word stolen in the title to draw effect and I would like the knowledgeable knife people to keep an eye out on the blade sites and eBay etc

If someone does have it I am sure they do not know what they have and the importance of it and will surely try and sell it somewhere

Don't panic yet... I've had several knives shipped by various countries postal services that have apparently according to the tracking stopped/frozen/disappeared only to arrive safe and sound with the tracking showing no change. I even had a FedEx package turn up after been missing for 2 years! Let be positive and hope for the best!
I really hope things work out for Sam and the knife turns up.

This sucks particularly with the short time left for it to get sorted out if it just stopped or misplaced. I sent a knife to France and it showed landing in customs and then nothing... 6 weeks after shipping it, it just showed up back on my doorstep, no explanation.. We later figured it was a paperwork issue, so it may still be okay but hopefully it gets sorted out before the deadline.

I hope it turns up soon, that dagger is one of the most exquisite knives I've ever seen

This has happened more then once to me. I ship out a knife and it goes MIA... but shows up few weeks later after a panic.

Agree with Jon.

I've only done 2 European deals, the first from the Netherlands came straight over.
The second one from Belgium was almost 2 weeks late, with 10 days being held up in Belgian Customs,
then it sailed right through.

Sure hope Sam's amazing MS Dagger shows up, I keep coming back to look at the guard construction.
Amazing piece !

Best,

Doug

I believe the Dagger will show up, unfortunately there's only a little over two weeks before Blade Show and MS Testing. I feel for Sam, as there's enough pressure associated with testing without having to worry whether a knife is going to show up.
