Attn: BCCI has their 35th anniversary knives on their site. 110 s and 112s

Those are incredibly beautiful!
I got one of the cheaper $390 "ugly" ones :) I'm not a semi-precious stone expert so, if I couldn't tell the difference between a $390 and $500 one, then it is good enough for me. I thought the pattern and the swirls on this one were attractive enough. Also, there are some drop points available which, in retrospect, I probably would have preferred. As it was, $390 was stretching the affordability index.

Truly beautiful. Make a awesome addition to a collection! hate to think of actually using them but that's just me. Those handles are something to behold.
Most of the "stone" custom 112s I have are made from reconstituted stone. Not that there is anything wrong with that because it does offer better stability. But this one is cut from a chunk of real jasper from a mine in Idaho. I didn't realize how expensive jasper was, but the maker said that he got a good deal on the stone from the mine owner. Usually, the stone needed would by itself cost $500 - which is quite hard to fathom. But to be honest, I prefer red jasper.

Interesting Happy. Certainly makes for a beautiful blade but being a vintage guy in age prices of quality blades still shocks me. Recall buying a bowie knife for under $3.00 back in the mid-sixties that was stamped Solingen with a 6 inch blade. Probably carbon steel blade. Also recall buying a P.I.C. hunting knife with bone handle for under $3.00 at a sporting goods store. Thankfully held onto that Puma Skinner I really went all out for by spending a whopping $25 back in 67. Times sure have changed! Thanks for your interesting post!

It's tough, also, when the blade doesn't always specify the model and the collector card text is cut off. For example, #42 has an interesting split color pattern on the handle, but I couldn't tell from the blade stamp if it was a 110 or a 112. And, the card text isn't visible either.

The easiest way to tell them apart is that the 112 has a "finger guard" built into the front bolster and the 110 doesn't.

With that additional bit of information, I noticed a couple of other differences. The anvil stamp on the blade is below 'Buck' on the 110, but to the left on the 112, in addition to the 'finger guard' curve. Here are a couple of samples captured from the new collection. Given my new understanding, I think this are correct.

If you really want to flesh out your collection, you may need to order more than one as both DP and Clip are available. ;) 😂

So very tempting 🤔
I think I'd rather get pieces from other customizers and in colors I like better. I am getting a red agate one from Eric Stokes on which I have high hopes.

I had thought about that. For the cost of these, you could get 2+ customizing on the Buck site. I had not yet looked into other customizers and the fanciest I have ordered from Buck so far are the standard S30V models. But, I do like the look of these. So, I ordered an ugly 112 DP to go with my 110 Clip. I'm done now. You folks can have the rest. 😂

Up until the BCCI had made the first batch of stone handled 112's about a year ago I had never bought any knife with a stone handle. I figured the FIRST time I dropped it it would be over. But I'm glad I bought one as they are truly beautiful! The rarity of different types of stone big enough for a handle can be extreme but I consider the time spent just searching for enough to make a run is high. Plus I think every chunk is basically a gamble for the maker and just cutting it takes skill it takes a lifetime to achieve. I would hate to think about how very many hours in total for a run of Bucks like this takes..
