ATTN BUCK Reps....A question about a warantee??

I'm thinking about purchasing a large Buck/Strider from someone, and I am wondering about the warantee. The thing is that the person I'm considering purchasing from has abrased the G 10 scales, and slightly marred down the finish in order to make the surface easier on the hands. What I want to know is, if I purchase this knife, does the warantee go to me? Has the warantee been voided because the scales have been altered? Also, the clip has been treated to make it black, and I want to know if THIS has voided the warantee. I'm really interested in one of these knives, but I can't afford one without a warantee with it (if you know what I mean). By the by, are all of the warantees on bucks limited lifetime?

Mate, You will find Buck to be a very customer friendly company
seldom asking for proof of purchase instead they depend on the
owners honesty of claim. (Buck is a good Christian company)
They do ,however, reserve the right to reject warranty claims
on modified items.

Your concern about warranty makes one wonder if the knife
is fit to buy / use in the first place .........without being repaired
by a free warranty.

So yes, Buck is an honest comapany hoping that their customers
are also honest. You won' t find a better one.

Well, you see, I haven't actually seen the knife in person. That's been the hard thing. I really want one of these knives, but I don't want to get something I won't be happy with...

Take two asprin and call me in the morning......you've got a fever now.

This is the time when I tell myself to be calm or I will buy something motivated
strictly on impulse. NOT a good thing.

Mate, the world won't end tommorow so you'll have plenty of time to save and
buy a new strider and not have to deal with any of the issues you asked about
here. Take your time...........

Chances are that if you purchased the knife, and had a problem with the blade, we would take care of it under warrantee. The handle would be another story of course since we could not cover someone elses work. The safest bet would be to find one that has not been altered, if you can stand the wait!

Take care,

Please, don't anyone panic!!! Please allow me to tell you a story: I have what amounts to a VERY expensive stereo. What I learned from doing this, however, is that there are many people out there who are very happy to help you spend YOUR money!
I'm not in any hurry to buy a knife (as it is I've learned that I probably won't be able to carry the full size because of University restrictions), I merely wanted to ask a simple question. I'm poor, and therefore I have to make sure that my money goes as far as I can stretch it. I'm looking for a couple of good, stout folders (because as I said before I can't carry a fixed-blade of any kind here). I've settled on probably getting an Al Mar SERE 2K, and a Buck/Strider mini for those occasions when one comes in handy.
I came to the Buck forum because if I'm going to buy something used I want to make sure that I can get it serviced if and when it becomes necessary. Thus, a simple question. If I'm uncertain, I'm not going to buy it (as I've said I just don't have the budget to make many mistakes). I'm more than willing to wait and buy a new Buck/Strider, however if I could get one used then cool. I just didn't want anyone to worry about me, though thanks for your concern!
