I am looking for a Case large stockman with Case's California clip as the main blade. I have done some googling and have found there was a 47 1/2 pattern with that blade and was 3 7/8 long. When I search for it on the auction site though it just brings up regular clip blades though.

Are there any case stockman patterns between 3 7/8 and 4 1/4 that come with a California clip main? Stainless or CV is fine.

I plan on picking up a GEC 82 stockman which is basically what I am looking for but I would love a case example to if it exists.

You don't mention whether you want a new one or used but Case did not use the "1/2" at the end of their pattern number on earlier knives. I believe you can find knives from the 70's with California clip blades searching for their standard 47 pattern.

Posting a pic of the knife would be a BIG help, in nailing down what you're referring to.

Having said that, here's a pic found on the web, of a 1980 SR6347-1/2, with the California clip blade. The 'SR' in the pattern# refers to 'satin rose' bone, at least according to the description found on Google Images:

The '47-pattern knives from Case have always been 3-7/8" closed length; so the above may be a match to what you're hunting for. I don't know if Case ever produced a '75 pattern (the large 4-1/4" stockman w/square bolsters) with a California Clip blade. They might've included the California Clip on the 6275 'Moose' pattern, 2 blades built on the same '75 frame, but with only a clip and long spey at opposing ends.

It may be you're looking for a '63047', as opposed to the '6347-1/2' pattern. I'm still not sure of the accuracy of the description of the pictured knife above, though the 2nd pic may show the '1/2' in the pattern stamp (it's murky in the pic). Case did apparently produce a 'Satin Rose' version (1980) under the 'SR63047' pattern designation.

No expert here but I am a fan of the California clip shape as well as the Stockman pattern. I do not think Case currently makes a Stockman in the sizes mentioned with that blade shape, at least I haven't come across any new knives with this blade. I see lots of knives in the 3 5/8" size with the Calif clip, but nothing larger. That seems a bit odd since the full size Trapper uses a Calif clip in the larger size.

I believe the "SR" designation stands for "Smooth Rose" bone. See - Sargent:American Premium Guide to Knives and Razors; 7th Edition, Pg. 29.

I wondered about that, and it could be so; I'm seeing the same description in a collecting guide I refer to*. I would've otherwise guessed 'Smooth Red', as opposed to 'Satin Rose' in the description I found with the pics above; that came from a source that's normally pretty expert on Case knives, and also published a book on them.

I do not have a particular knife in mind. Im going off an old bf post that the pic links no longer worked for. I do not believe case has any new production stockman that match what I am looking for.

Ill search around for a 47 pattern with a california clip but I was hoping there had been one made in the past over 4".

I have a 3 5/8 stockman with the cali clip but it is not big enough for me.

I have a case SR peanut and I always thought it stood for smooth rose.

Okay 63047 brings up a California clip 3 7/8 stockman, thanks guys.

Wow I can buy the GEC 82 and a Case Texas jack for the price of a nice 63047!!

As others have stated, your choices in Case would be the 63047 and the SR 63047-1/2 (both essentially the same knife different handle). Both long discontinued.

Case never made a larger knife than the 047 in the stockman pattern with the California clip master blade. There was one in the Case Classics series (6340) but these were made by Queen and are very high $$ and hard to find.

Which leads me to my recommendation - check out Moore Maker for their 5302 and 5304 patterns - these are 4-1/4" and 4-3/8" stock knives with the California Clip master. Both made on contract by Queen.

The Moore Maker suggestion is a good alternative for a Calif clip main blade in a larger knife. I own a 5301 and a 5302 and they are both excellent knives although a bit pricey.

Here is my #5304 Moore Maker, their 4-3/8" knife. 1095 steel, very nice fit & finish, this one made in 2002 with the jigged burnt white bone.
Great knife. These can be found on the secondary markets for well under the $100 price of a new GEC.

The medium Stockman's are typically 3 5/8", and many come with the California clip blade; we're talking 1/4" difference.
