Attn Chopstick using people

Good Morning everyone,
So my girlfriend recently introduced me to sushi and thai food and i found out i have a natural gift of using chopsticks aha. I rather enjoy using them so i ordered a set of TiStix and im super exited about them. My question is how do you store yours? I am going to atempt a little experiment with kydex in the near future but if you wouldnt mind id love to read and see what you guys do.

The three sets of titanium and rosewood collapsible chopsticks I bought all came with a fabric holster/pouch.

One of the reasons I bought that type.
 
See some women who wear chopsticks in their hair in lieu of other decorative fasteners..don't think I'd be borrowing for my fried rice.
 
Kydex for Ti chopsticks? That sounds pretty awesome. Be sure to post pics.
 
yea im hoping my first ever kydex experiment turns out alright.
Iv done a ton of reading and iv watched a bunch of videos to learn how, and its a fairly simple project so i have high hopes. Who knows if its easy quick and turns out good enough i might make a few and see if anyone els is interested, but no promises aha.
 
I love my TiStix. They get almost daily usage. My method of storage is rather inelegant, however. Most times, they occupy a gap on my CD rack. I'm pleased to report that after a year of such treatment, they've held up remarkably well. The anodizing is intact, and they only have faint scratching that one would expect on oft-used tableware.

I have no worries about the quality iv read enough about them to know iv made a good choice. I was just hopin someone els was crazy like me and made some kydex for them aha.
 
I'm Chinese.. we keep our generic plastic and wooden chopsticks in the drawer, next to the forks and knives.. :rolleyes:
 
I keep my wooden chopsticks in a tall bamboo cup. My ti sticks came in a leather sheath.

I really need a cover for my traveling set of green jade G-11 from Phillip Dobson. My home set stays in the bamboo cup.

Funny guy here aha! thanks i guess i should have specified that these will be my...edc chopsticks i guess if that makes sence i intend to eat my lunches and what not with them when not home and use them while at home aswell so the need for a case/sheat is to keep them clean while there in my bag pocket or where ever iv got them. kydex came today soon as the sticks get here ill be tryin my hand at plastic bending wish me luck.

Yeah, but I'll bet there's a set made of ebony or rosewood or something nice tucked away for company.
 
I like the bamboo chopsticks the best. The wood provides a better grip than the plastic. We also have some nice teak ones. Haven't tried any metal ones yet.

Like hybridbanana, we have a drawer dedicated to chopsticks. We also have a couple of pairs that are for cooking. They are 15-18" long made of bamboo, they don't fit in the drawer.

"As an environmentalist," she declared, "I do not approve of destroying bamboo forests for throwaway utensils."

The waiter inspected her chopsticks. "Very beautiful," he said politely. "Ivory."
 
Koreans favor metal chopsticks. Japanese, Chinese, and Thai prefer wood or bamboo. We have about a dozen sets in the kitchen drawer next to the knives and forks, and a bag of waribashi (disposable chopsticks) in the kitchen cupboard for bag lunches or O-bento. Why carry around chopsticks after lunch? Chopsticks are the norm here in Japan, but I haven't met many people who use anything fancy except westerners. If people need to carry permanent chopsticks here, they use a chopstick box; a plastic box the length of chopsticks and about 1/2" on a side.

Not in our house, or the houses of my in-laws. As long as they are clean, no one really pays attention to chopsticks in Japan. Perhaps it's different in other countries.

This reminds me of a situation my Tai Chi instructor was in 25 years ago in the US. He and a group of other Tai Chi teachers were going on a "Tai Chi Tour of China." They were all so excited to be able to do this! They went out and bought Chinese frog-button jackets and Chinese slippers to wear when practicing with their counterparts . When they arrived at the dojo in Bejing they found all the Chinese going through the form... wearing Adidas track suits and sneakers!

I have been using chopsticks for a long time and have grown to hate full metal sticks, I much prefer wooden pieces. I carry a set of collapsible chop sticks that have metal bodies with wooden tips. I find these to be just the ticket and they are a bit more pocketable than a more traditional set or one of the nice modern full size sets in Ti, G-10 or carbon fiber, although they are indeded very nice.

One set is screw together with Ti body and the other set are telecoping with ss body and are the ones I use the most. Both sets came with a carry pouch that works just fine. :):thumbup:
