hi, i wrote earlier about the mini commander i wanted to convert to a lefty. i don't have one yet, i wanted to make sure the conversion could be done. how much would it cost for Emerson to convert one? i asked about a lefty model from my "contact" and was told i would have to pay FULL retail! i think it might be more cost effecient for me to have a right hand version converted... whatcha think? or do you know where i could get a left hand version at a better price? thanks for your help:)

If I were you I would get the knife from EKI and pay the extra money. I don't think that EKI discriminates against lefties, it's just a business decision. There just isn't enough of a demand for left hand knives. I can't imagine that you could find someone that would do the conversion for you in a way that would save you money. You could put the clip on the other side of a right hand model but it isn't the same. Do yourself a favor and cough up the money to have it done right.

thanks scott and derek(on the phone today). i decided to go the hard way(on my wallet)and ordered a mini commander BTS. i hope to get it within 2 weeks. looking foreward to checking one out. there was a place in town that sold them, i went there this week, guess what... they closed down!!! they have been here for, i know at least 20 years...
i decide to get a knife and there is a big red CLOSED sign on the door. all the time they were open i was not interested in putting down that amount of money for a pocket knife and never even held one, so now i am paying retail, sight unseen..., I HOPE I LIKE IT.... :)

You will like it. I have faith that EKI and Derek will make every attempt to accomodate any reasonable request that you make. I think that you will be one happy camper. Go easy on the wave, it's a very cool way to open a knife but it can be hard on the pant pocket!:D ;)
