Has anyone had one made in satin? If so, can you tell me what the added cost is?

I could be totally wrong but I thought I read that Garth would not be doing any satin TGLB's. Of course I could be completely wrong so maybe someone with more knowledge than I can chime in.

well maybe Garth is prowling around somewhere here and can chime in... it would be awesome to get one in satin to go with my Satin MUK

I have read here that you can get Competition Grade, but you will have to call the Shop to get your answer. Those questions are not usually addressed on the Forum.

Indeed it would. I seriously hope it's possible... i wannit!

I see that Garth has been around... maybe he can help us out ;)

Compitition finish yes. Satin is a NO.

I know because I've asked Garth already when I ordered mine in CF.

I went with the competition finish on mine because of no satin, that said they turned out extremely well and no regrets! (see the other 2 threads for pictures if interested)

just looked at that thread. Can't see any of the pics due to firewall at work

I sent Lexi a message asking her if it's possible to get a DC finish on it... if that isn't possible, i think i'll just end up going with the black coating, as it does match 2 of my others on order

Coatings are fine for big choppers or SR101, but I am not a fan of them on anything under 8 inches that may be used for food prep or meat processing. Wait to see the pics and give the CF a fair shake before you rule it out is my advice. It will cost you shipping and wait time to get it redone if you want CF applied to a coated blade later... been there done that and I waited to order a TGLB until I found out I could get it with CF the first go around. ;) The newer CF blades were basically stripped and then given DCBB treatment but were not made smooth like satin or dcbb blades. If using it is your main priority, I highly recommend the CF option. If matching your others or form over function is more important, well then knock yourself out.

Bummer.... black it is :P

i don't dislike the comp finish but it's a LONG way from the finish on the MUK so there's no point going that way. I was looking to get something that complimented the muk, but i don't think comp and satin would look nice together

Quoting this from the other thread for the pic, I think you might be surprised at how well it would go with your muk. This definitely makes me glad I ordered mine with CF! I'll sand down my handles to my own preference though vs custom shopping them.

Almost exactly the same as other thread, but Mine is fresh from the custom shop, and as I told Garth today, I fricken LOVE this thing. I'll likely be ordering a second in exactly the same configuration.

I can't get over how pretty that CF is. So glad mine will be coming back to me like that.

Thanks for the pic Bullitt196. I don't have mine yet but after seeing your pic, I'm glad I ordered mine in CF.

We have tried a few different ways to clean up the machine grinds to be able to do satin or double cut blades but it has proven to be a very time consuming process making it very price unfriendly. I have not given up yet but right now it just takes to much time. I will definitely let everyone know if I figure something out.

Garth
