I've been looking high and low for a 97OT Buzz Saw Trapper for a while now, and have eBay set to notify my when it sees one. This morning, I had an alert in my Inbox, but what I found wasn't what I expected.

There are about a dozen auctions up now for what looks to be made from mixed parts: the blade stamps say "97OT", but the handles are the Uncle Henry bone with bolsters at both ends, like the old 97UH.

While I'm still looking for that #$%^& 97OT, these would make nice users: OT carbon-steel blades, plus the prettier UH handles. Betting they won't be around for long, either, so you might wanna grab one while you can.

Smoky got the last of the knives and the left over parts at the auction, when they're gone, they're gone!

Yeah, that's what it looks like... can't tell from Smoky's listing what model it is, though.

I thought only the Uncle Henry's had those bone scales, and that only OTs had the carbon steel blades? Or am I just sadly deluded?

It does seem that those are OldTimers with UH handles. Just to clarify, you probably know this, the UH knives are generally "staglon", a.k.a. plastic.

Perhaps it was to be some sort of Limited Edition knife that never received the final markings? Schrade did some of those gimmicy things such as "Ducks Unlimited" and collector tin sets. Probably though, it was either a last-minute mistake or they were using up the materials on hand before the doors were locked.

I've noticed some of the knives are listed Out of Stock one day but available the next, and vice versa. For instance, when I placed my first order the 96OT were Out of Stock. Later they became available. Now I think they're out again. They may be opening crates as they go...

Bob, I know recently they aquired the rest of the schrades from the auction. perhaps they are doing that? Going through one lot at a time. its pretty smart though, "get them all worked up and ready to buy another when they see one".

There seems to be allot of parts of UH and Ot'rs mixed up. More than likely because of all the "misc." parts.
