Okay, here's the news (good news). Before I tell you, please PRAY to the delivery deity that nothing goes wrong.

Due to a shipping error on UPS's part, the WWIIIs, which shipped LAST MONDAY came back to Scott at Edgeworks. Being the great guy he is, he's shipping them to me next day air early AM. So guess what I'm doing tomorrow? Packing and shipping WWIIIs - the first 12.

If there IS a problem, you'll hear about it on this thread. If not, look for a UPS tracking number in your email tomorrow afternoon.

WHOPPPEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

In the immortal words of Austin Powers, let me be the first to say, "YEAH, BABY!"

Thanks again, Craig. All 40 of us owe you a Murphy's Stout.

And BTW, you have email (on a different subject.)

Mmmmm. Murphy's. Well, you'd better not send them until AFTER Friday, as I'm sure Berkley doesn't want number 32 instead of number 1!!!!!

YEAHHHHH BABY!!!!! Mine isn't even coming, and I'm excited.

BTW: All HI owners and other non-GH owners who sent me their khukuris for kydexing - those won't be in this shipment, but will follow in the next.

Craig, I haven't heard anything since I sent my $50 deposit many, many months ago. I'm obviously not in the first 12, when are the others expected and what is the final cost?

thanks!

Craig, I know that will be as eager to get these shipped out tomarrow as we are to receive them but PLEASE take a moment or 2 and get some photos.
Thanks for seeing this thing through. I'm sure they will be worth every minute of the wait!

I agree with the guys, Craig. I'm only speaking for myself here, but it's okay with me if my WWIII is an extra day or two late if that will give you the time you need to get some good pics. Otherwise all I'll see is my own olive drab model. I'd love to see how the other ones turned out. So my vote is, do what you have to do to get some pics, even if it means I have to wait longer.

Proud Owner,
WWIII #04

All WWIII’s Shipped … again

However; shipped again … later then promised because a variety of screw-ups on my end.

It’s not Craig’s fault for any of the resent delays. Blame for that comes to my shop and me.

Tracking # is available at Craig’s desecration for any who have a doubt as to where the box might be.

That said … The WWIII’s are a fabulous bunch of knives. I am glad to have been asked to provide the rigs. Please let me know what you think when you get them.

Scott: EXCELLENT NEWS!!!!! I speak for everyone when I echo our gratitude that you undertook this project at all . . . logistically challenging, as we are all learning.

Guys: We're closed on Monday, so the WWIIIs will ship on Wednesday Morning, as we will be out off the office until Tuesday afternoon. Marya and I will shoot some digital pics, and will then pack and ship. SO, SO VERY EXCITED!!!!!

When Scott said "all shipped," did he really mean "all," or just the first twelve? If not all, when will are the rest projected to be shipped?
Thanks, Scott

I shipped all the WWIII’s that I had (12 of them). I am un-sure of the progress on the others. I do have some traditional variants in the shop that I will be working on over the next 3 weeks as I have opportunity.

Hi guys! I had to make an emergency trip to Miami this weekend (nothing bad), and I just got back. Guess what? I have 12 of the coolest khukuris ever made sitting right on my desk. They go out tomorrow, no joking. I'd expect that a few lucky east coasters will have their WWIIIs for the weekend, Monday at the latest.

As for the other WWIIIs, the next batch should be in Scott's capable hands at the end of this month. As for the rest, most of you know that Robert got a full time job - thus the slow down in production. Well, I have an idea that I'll be discussing with him this week - one that will hopefully see these things all done and shipped in a Month. NO promises, but I will be working hard on the solution I have in mind.

In the mean time, whopeeeeeee! If I can find my digital camera, I'll shoot some photos of the WWIIIs, but I'll probably want to get them all out tomorrow, so I may ask the owners to post detailed photos at their leisure.

They are, in a word - perfect. Each one has 7 super thick rivets holding them together - the tubular kind that will make possible all sorts of custom rigging. They also have super strong screws in four places (near the handle) for support. Finally, the heavy-duty belt rig that Scott affixed to the scabbard is an EXCELLENT improvement over the prototype. There's even a plastic belt loop at the top of the web-belt sized belt slot to accomodate more alternative riggings. Can't wait for you first lucky 12 to get your knives and have the chance to comment on them. Look for UPS tracking numbers in your email tomorrow.

Also, it might interest you to know that I've already cut myself on one of the WWIIIs. Is someone trying to tell me something?

It should be there by now. If you don't have it in a couple of days, use the UPS tracking number emailed to you to track it on line. If that fails, call me and I can help.

Picked up the WWIII this morning from the "black hole"

1st impression WOW!!!!!!! What a chunk of steel

Think I could cut a house is 1/2 without any problems.

Only thing's I've noticed after running my grubby hands all over it:

What is the attachment at the top of the sheath for??? It looks like some kind of buckle but I'm brain dead today and can't figgure out what it's for.

The WWIII is rather dull, now I've got to lear how to sharpen it.

My biggest gripe is that the handle dose not fit the tang. There is a couple of places on the top backstrap where I've got sharp edges sticking out beyond the handle. Some minor work with a dremel should fix this but I was expecting a "perfect" fitted handle.

Oh well, we're off to Cheyenne Frontier Days Rodeo, hopefully tonight I'll have a chance to check out the WWIII better. Otherwise it will be sometime next week as Uncle Sam wants some work out of me

Funny - the ones I looked at (and I inspected them all) had pretty perfect handles - but I obviously missed one. What is the thickness of the protuberance?

Also, am very relieved that it did arrive, as there are no "replacements" on hand for these babies.

As for the dullness of the blade, I think that is due to the fact that they were so "worked" by so many hands that to have a razor sharp blade involved in the sheathing process or the handle making process would have been dangerous - but it's only a theory. Were other WWIIIs delivered with less-than-razor blades?
