my brother uses a utv for some hauling and to plow his long driveway. He used to use his ford 8n tractor to plow. You will appreciate a cab in the winter. He loves the utv.

I'd go with the UTV as well. You have the option of a cab for when you are plowing. UTV's are much heavier than atv's as well making them better plow vehicles. And for getting fire wood the bed of the UTV would be much better than trying to use the cargo racks or tow a trailer through the woods with an atv. Basically UTV's are much better "work" machines but they are still fun in their own right.

No question about it, get the utv. More use, more fun and more passengers. Trust me, you will never regret it!

I have never owned a UTV so I can not make a comparison.

As far as an ATV: We have had an ATV (right now a Yamaha Grizzly) for the past 15 years, used for snow plowing, wood and hay hauling, manure spreading, riding fences and every day farm chores. For our purposes and used several times every single day, it has been an excellent workhorse and I would not hesitate to get another one.

Personally, I prefer to be out in the elements, not closed up in a box with a steering wheel. I like to swing my leg over the machine instead of sliding in on a seat with a backrest. That's just me. No need for one of them fancy UTVs.

I would get some feedback from people who have owned both for the specific type of work you're talking about. Then go to a dealer and test drive both types.

Good luck and if you need more info you can PM me.

I think that I'm going to get Polaris my father in law has a sportsman and loves it i've been looking at the rangers specifically the diesel utv looks great and you can get a realy nuce plow for it any of you guys have any experience with their products

I have a 2003 Grizzly and a 2010 Ranger 800xp. The Grizz is a great machine and so is the Ranger. If I could have only one, I would go with the Ranger even though it is not quite as nimble as the Grizz. I pull a 60" mower behind the Grizz as it is more maneuverable when mowing, and I haul wood with my Ranger. Four loads of wood in my Ranger will fill the bed of my 2500hd. I have never plowed with either, but I would think the Ranger would do a better job as it is heavier.

Another advantage is my wife can ride beside me in the Ranger so selling her on it was a breeze. The only drawback to the Ranger is that most of the public trails here do not allow the Ranger as it is too wide plus if you have to transport it, you will need a trailer whereas the Grizz will go in the back of my truck

Have fun with the decision process and try them both. YRMV

PM me if I can answer any specifics for you
