Was wanting to post these a week or so ago,but the weather has been too nice to be inside.
Around the turn of the last century this country around here was being explored for mineral wealth-(theres plenty) It is amazing to see where those oldtimers went and the places they got to,absolutely astounding considering no air travel or decent maps. Around here ,many a far valley had a mine or mining activities.
The interest in mining and mineral wealth is still around, once a mineral claim expires it will be taken up by other interests right away.
Such was the case in the location a friend and I visited
Instead of opening up the old abandoned road from the old mine the new owners approached the claim site through another valley that had been roaded for timber harvest much shorter route.
We parked the trucks and unloaded the ATVs some 35 kms from the mine site.
On reaching the end of hte road we travelled up the new pilot trail to the mine claims.A rugged punched out bulldozer track
Enough explaination on with the scenery
A distant waterfall
At the old mine site
Some old artifacts,These 3 legged dutch ovens were of a nice design.Too bad they were ruined
Some mountain scenery
Wayne
The quads
Along the pilot road
When we were riding out Wayne had stopped to pick something up.It turned out to be a horseshoe. To think that the oldtimer brought horses up here boogled the mind
Looking north
A very fine day spent with a good friend having a looksee.
Roundtrip was just over 70 kms or so
