ATV's?

I have been tasked with searching for a second ATV for my job. We have a 250+ acre facility that we need to patrol all hours of the day/night. It consists of a mostly paved/concreted area, but we also have quite a bit that is undeveloped except for small trails that we druve through. We currently use an American SportWorks Chuckwagon 4x2 340 cc. It works ok, but I am supposed to look for something similar in 4x4. Preferably, it would be covered, 2 person (maybe 4) capacity, with a bed. As I said, 4x4 and it needs to be relatively durable.

Any ideas?

There aren't too many options that carry more than 1 person with a bed. Most of the companies that make 4 wheelers have their version like Kawasaki, Polaris, etc. Most of the big names are going to have their fans but they all should be quality products. I have not heard of any that have lots of known problems.

There might be a better one but I have found quite a bit of information at the highlifter forum here: http://forum.highlifter.com/

I have 2 Polaris 4x4 ATVs that have worked really well for me so far. I have done the normal maintenance and haven't had the first problem other than a battery that needed some electrolyte added. I have had them for about 3 years and ride them almost everywhere when I go to my parents house. They live in a little fishing town about 20 years behind the times and every road has a 4 wheeler trail on the side of it. In fact the county that is on the other side of the river just passed a law that 4 wheelers/ side by sides/ golf carts are allowed on the road as long as they have a reflective orange triangle on the back. God I love that place.

I have seen ads for minitrucks but I don't know how durable they are or if you can even buy them new. They might all be imports that are used? But might be worth looking in to plus I think they might even have A/C which can be a plus depending on where you are.

The RZR has no real bed, it's a fun machine only, and very fun it is :D If money is no problem, Polaris has a new 4 passenger that would work nicely, just get the extended warranty. Polaris has a release first, fix later mentality. If money is an issue, get a Rhino. They've been around the longest, have a decent bed and are very durable. There is also a ton of lighting options available for boosting night time light.

Check out the Polaris Rangers

By the time you add cab and lighting options to a UTV you would probably come out cheaper by purchasing a used Jeep. You could also have air conditioning if needed with a Jeep.

I myself (I am WAY more of an ATV enthusiast than knife collector) would go with a Polaris Ranger crew cab, It seats 6 with a bed. Now If you want something that will get up and go to catch someone or something, go for the Polaris RZR, little boogers are FAST... I would know, I have one. :D

^stoopid picture did not work, click the link for the crew cab.

Polaris Ranger. Enclose the cab with a kit, and be done with it. Ranger Crew IF you need to seat more.

It is easier in nd out of the Ranger, compared to the Rhino. Ranger tows more as well.

I suppose the Honda Big Red is an option too, but I have never driven, nor seen one.

Razor is a piss poor UTV.

Rhino bed isn't as durable as the ranger.

Rhino would be my second pick due to the availability of aftermarket parts.

I would love a Jeep, however, even a CJ is too big for where we can drive.
