Lately I have seen knives posted for sale in the individual for sale forum that have turned into auctions, may be it's time for the powers that be to set up a page for that
in the for sale forums. Opinions please and I will get ready to duck.

I think your right, but that may not count for much since i'm still a newbie. I'm sure that there will be changes happening after Spark gets settled into his new chair. Overall I'm just glad this whole Forum is here, or I'd probably never appreciate the true value of custom/high-end production knives.

If I want an auction, I'll go to ebay. I like it here because of the way we do things.

Don't get me wrong I like to see the prices posted with the knives for sale but it seems in some cases the sales have turned into auctions for one reason or another and it would them give them a place togo without
causing a problem.

I´m new here too,

I also believe we have a couple of dealers working in the individual: for sale forum.

If there are dealers working in the individual forum, well, that speaks volumes for their personal sense of ethics. Not to mention the honor system, since there isn't a charge to post in the dealer section.

As for people posting threads for auctions - their perogative... if you aren't interested, don't browse their listing on ebay or other auction sites.

The Exchange section will be undergoing some changes in the near future. I can't specify what they will be and when it will happen because, quite frankly, I haven't made up my mind yet. None of the alternatives I'm looking at entirely please me, quite honestly, and I don't want to do anything half assed that I'll regret later.

Certain parties out there have been speculating as to what's going to happen, and thus far, they are all entirely wrong - primarily because we're still in the brainstorming stages, so nothing has been decided upon. When I do come up with a solution, I'm going to try to make sure that it will be one that is fair and equitable for everyone, and do the most good.

I agree.

I think that if you want to sell a knife you should post the price that you want to sell it for and not "best offer". If you would take a lower price then OBO is OK.

What many are doing regularly is posting the knife for sale and then waiting for the emails to roll in to get the highest price. I think that this method demonstrates a lack of integrity.

If you want to auction your knife--go to Ebay or Bladeauction and pay for your auction.

I really like the Knives for Sale Forum, but it is really getting out of control by some individuals.

Tho I'm still in the ranks of the newbies, I feel very strongly that prices should be stated on the individual sales forum.

I have noticed, tho, that many of the "auction" posts are made by newbies/FNGs. Just a couple days ago, a new forumite listed several knives, and requested offers. Instead of my usual half-assed flame, which I've posted on other occasions, I decided to write to the guy, since he was brand new, and no other posts had yet been made.

He wrote back promptly, and fairly quickly edited his post and said he'd placed prices on the knives. He thanked me for cluing him in. Makes me wonder if this isn't the best method to use.

Of course, every once in awhile an old-timer does it, and you know it intentional. Don't mind flaming them in the least. Feel it likely that the nice message route would only produce abuse/flame.

I certainly hope that the forums don't add an auction setup. It would mean that I'd probably quit looking for knives here.
