Here's a little gem that's one of the many knives I regret selling. It's a miniature damascus dagger that I bought off her Blade Show table several years ago. Wish I still had it...

Blade length: 2 1/2"
Overall length: 5 1/4"
Blade steel: 15N20 and 1084 damascus
Handle materials: Fossilized bark wolly mammoth ivory with an elephant ivory spacer and a brass guard

That's a nice piece, but my favorite work of Audra's so far are her Fowler style folders. VERY nice work!

I gotta disagree with ya there, Keith. I really like the warm look of brass or bronze on knives with darker blades and brown in the handles. I think it really benefits from some color there. Maybe blued steel or something would also work, but then you have to worry about the finish wearing off, and I really dislike nickle or stainless on many other knives. Not enough complimenting contrast.

Brass seems to have a very negative stigma attached to it, and I'm not sure if that was the basis for your comments. So, many times if I still want the color without the stigma, I'll use bronze, various kinds of mokume, or even gold (on a miniature, that is.) I prefer to use sterling or fine silver over nickle; just don't like the luster of that stuff.

A nice design, but I think it would look better with a different material for the guard.

Perhaps, but it's certainly in character with the whole Ed Fowler lineage thing. And besides, I liked it. :) Unfortunately for me, so did the dude who bought it... :grumpy:
