I have no idea where it came from, but the blade will now move, ever so slightly, up-and-down!! And, it also has a teeny bit of lateral blade play... that one, at least, should go away with pivot screw tightening... man, that bummed me out for a couple hours, especially since I never pry, dig, chop, baton, or flick with that knife... the play is very negligible, but still... anyone else had this happen to their BM axis folder?

It isn't a commonly reported problem with axis locks from what I have seen. You could try the Benchmade forum.

yeah, that's why it was such a cause for consternation. Good idea with the BM forum, Cliff, I'll give it a shot. Thanks

Save your time and contact BM directly. The forums are not made to interact with BM. Jason there is a man of the internet not of the bench. He is right and will give you support. But not more than me and telling you:

"Contact Benchmade directly. Send an Email!"

BTW, keep us updated what the problem was or may be. It really is surprising. A laterla play is caused by the pivot and it will be gone in a minute by tightening it. But a vertikal play is not typical and i would expect it to become worse. In almost every case you get a Grip with no play so go and get a replacement. Benchmade will do it as soon as you have sned the knife in.

Bu first you need an email contact.

Thanks for the info, Blop. I just looked at it again and now it seems that it's not vertical play, it's the whole pivot/blade/lock structure. I hear a "click" sound when I move it up and down. Perhaps it's simply due to the handle scales loosening a bit... I'll first try tightening the pivot and the handle screw and see what happens. I'll post the results on that.
