aus-8 folders under $40

I've been carrying an Ontario Utilitac II with the plain satin blade (AUS 8A) for the last couple months and absolutly love it. I purchased a Rat 1 at the same time and I much prefer the Utilitac. I ordered it from one of the big online knife retailers for $24.95.

These are solidly built in Taiwan with great ergonomics and a very useful blade shape. Easy to open and easy to close and easy to use.

Developed a taste for AUS, myself.

Micro Recon. Kicked my Mini-Grip out, and has stayed in my pocket for over a month.

Which might be a record....

The KA-BAR Bob Doziers are grand folders that meet your specs. FRN and AUS-8 for somewhere in the 25 dollar neighborhood. Pretty good value IMHO. Also you might could land a somewhat more substantial KA-BAR Mule for a bit more cash.

preferably ffg, and a framelock(liner lock is fine).

RAT-1 hits all those points. I don't own one, but they receive quite a bit of love on this forum.

Voyager hits all those except liner/frame lock, and I am a big fan of them

Nothing touches the Rat 1 as far as a sub $40 hard use folder!

I am serious. I have owned alot of them, and the only one that has remained is the Rat 1!

If you only want a liner lock, it's the Rat1. However...If you really want to check out the best that AUS8 offers, go with a Cold Steel Voyager and buy the Ontario later. ( I have both).

I get my Kabar Dozier Folding Hunters (models 4062 or 4065) for $18. Fantastic knives for the money.

Some of the CRKT M16's have AUS-8 and can be found in your price range. Gotta look at the specs though. Some M16's use AUS-4, and some use 8CR13MOV.

+1 on the Rat 1. Its a fantastic knife for what you pay for. I also enjoy carrying the Utilitac II. And if you wanna go to a lower price point you can get 2 Ka-Bar Dozier folders.
