Aus 8 steel - pitting or surface rust?

couldn't say i have a cold steel ak47 that has never rusted out of 6 months of everyday carry and it is exposed to sweat,water,sand,dust,heat,cold, and everything else it's aus8(which i like) i also have a benchmade griptillian in 154cm and have carried it every day that i've carried the ak and i was just removing rust spots from it today! all i did was spit on the blade and polish it w/ my shirt and there was no evidence of rusting. sometimes when you sharpen a knife that is not stainless on a stone and then sharpen a stainless knife on the same stone, the stainless can become impregnated by the particles of non stainless from the stone. make sure to clean the stone good with a sponge or something and then use oil to lubricate the stone when sharpening;the oil causes the particles to float on the surface and helps keep the crap out of your stone.
