Last night i was feeling a little hungry,so i went in the kitchen and cut a banana seperate from the bunch with my spyderco viele.
then tonight,to my horror,i discovered the blade had a small stain on both sides! Its not rust, but a small dark stain. I dont know what happened, but i opened it up and found it like this.
It wouldnt normally bother me,as i buy knives to use. Thing is, i was going to trade this one, although im not sure what for. Was LNIB. now its just used.
:(

any way to remove it?
ive searched high and low for my tuff cloth, but cannot find it. Maybe ill go to ag russell and get a new one,or some semi-chrome..
help!

Steel can corrode forming an orange oxide which is usually called rust, this is easily removed as it is soft and not bound together well. Even a damp cloth will wipe off a lot of rust. However if the corrosion is black (which is usually called a patina), then it is much harder to remove as it is hard and well bound together. You will either need to use an acid (which is what most rust removers contain) to dissolve it or an abrasive to buff it off.

Semichrome or some Gun Metal polish will take care of it. Get a cloth, apply a tiny bit of paste and buff the blade clean.
