got one. so ive had the aus8 versions for awhile. now grabbed an aus10.

came a little dull. sharpened up easily enough.

used it a couple days now. seems to hold an edge better than the aus8 version. i have other cold steels in bd1 but dont have a bd1 version counter point so i cant compare to that one.

not sure if the bd1 had the stippled finish the aus10 has? so far i dont care for it. im planning on sanding it down. makes what used to be one of the few no pocket shredding cold steel folder....into a potential pocket shredding one.

i dont need the extra rough finish as the scale shape works fine on its own.

all in all im liking the aus10 so far. over time and more use ill have a better idea of how it does.1524790705244720568344.jpg

Is that the 4 inch or 6 inch??

I've always wondered why they changed to the textured grip. The original grip has always worked fine with me. They did the same thing with the Rajah series as well. Were there that many people wanting such a change?

It should have the wear resistance of 440c ( pretty good but not quite up to S30V, S35Vn, etc.) but be a little tougher than 440C with a bit better edge stability. Slightly less corrosion resistance than 440C. It's a good knife steel IMO. I have a few Aus 10 knives including the old tri folding Cold steel one I can't remember the name of. Yes, it should have better wear resistance than Aus 8 because of the extra carbon. Pretty good stuff!

The CS trifolder was called the Triple Action. I used to have one too. Cool knife.

Thanks Lapedog. I haven't seen mine for a couple years. Now I want to dig it out. I have to remember where it is. :)

I recall them releasing some Aus 10 Trailmasters through Special Projects catalog. 80's to 90's maybe? They were pretty expensive for a guy married raising a kid. I wanted one but didn't want to fight my wife over the money.

That looks nice, may have to get one.

The later batch of Bd1 grivories handles all had the rough texture, I really like it.

Is the handle thickness the same as the aus-8 version? Might just be the pics, but it looks a little thinner than the original (wishful thinking maybe). I've been hoping for a straight up G-10 handle for this knife for years. I really like the design, just wish the handle wasnt quite so thick.

First aus10 report, thanks for the post! I look forward to trying it out. Are there any other models released with the aus10 yet?

I've seen tanto voyagers available in aus10, but that's all I found. Can't wait to get a clip point.

Looks like knifecenter has large voyagers and R2 in aus10a right now. I think I will trying a rajah 3 and fully serrated XL vaquero voyager when they come out.
