My job takes me to Australia frequently and for weeks at a time. There's not normally much time for sightseeing, and never time for extended hiking trips, but I try to sneak away for an hour or two every chance I get. It really is a diverse and scenic country and definitely worth a visit if anyone gets the opportunity. New South Wales alone has over 800 National Parks, Nature Reserves, Conservation Areas, and State Parks.

These are pictures from September 2012 in various locations in New South Wales and Queensland. Some of these locations I know right off where the photos were taken, other pictures I'll have to look up - just ask.

None of these pictures have been edited yet, and were taken with a small Canon point-and-shoot. I think Canons have excellent color and resolution, but like any P-S camera have trouble with difficult lighting.

I love that waterfall very much!

Thank you for the comments. The waterfall is Fitzroy Falls, in New South Wales in the Morton National Park. There wasn't much water when I visited, and smaller falls in the area were dry.

Thank you. Here are three of the best shots from a different trip in April.

Cool pics. I would love to be able to do some exploring in Oz. So many different ecosystems, from desert to tropical jungle to eucalyptus woodland.

Absolutely. I only wish I had more time for exploring and outdoor activities while there. Meandering and exploring the coasts and beaches is something I've really come to enjoy, something that's not possible here in New Mexico. Coastal areas are so different from anyplace I've ever lived, it may as well be another planet. The tidal pools, roaring ocean, history, and mile after mile of deserted beaches.

If this beach was in The States it would be crammed shoulder-to-shoulder with people and I wouldn't go within miles of the place:

Awesome photos. I know what it is like to travel to exotic places for work and have limited time to explore. Looks like you are able to make the most of your forray's. Thanks for sharing your pictures and giving us the 'best of the best' peaks at your trips.
