A couple of pics of an old Australian Hytest axe. Found under one of our sheds as a rusting piece of metal.
Until a few weeks ago it had been sitting on my work-shop windowsill. As shown, the side it was lying on is very pitted. I am happy with the end result though. Can shave with this old girl.

Hytest always brings fond memories. As a young man I worked for the Queensland forestry dept. The axes supplied were Hytest.

She weighs 5lb 5oz with the haft. The haft is 28''. It was an experiment to use a shorter haft. The balance is not great but would make a good camp axe. If I was to ever replace the haft I would use a 32". I like a haft with a deeper belly than this one.
