Hey guys
Do any Australian members here do group postage to save costs
Looking to buy a mean st probably just a combat grade as it will be a user So no need for satin

let me know what's goin on I'm in no rush so let's fill up a box of infi!!

Cheers rusty

Hi Rusty,

I'm not aware of any group postage organising that goes on. Usually members are buying multiples of knives that get released from Busse so the postage cost is spread over those. Busse are usually pretty good with their postage costs too. I suppose the other issue would be if the box goes missing (or if Customs likes them more than you) there would be a whole bunch of disappointed members, not just one.

I'll be buying some AMS LE's, probably from the website when they go up. Logistically it would be easier for me AND Busse to just have mine posted out when they're done. There may be some other Aussie members that are keen though. On another note, what combo are you getting?

Chris.

Good points there Chris,
I haven't ordered blades direct from busse before so wasn't sure on there postage costs

Mainly bought on the used market and USPS priority or whatever it's called adds up fast although they have been larger blades around the 50-60 usd mark for postage, thought we may be able to save a few bucks

Probably order a simple black on black just can't decide on paper or canvas slabs yet

Cheers rusty

Can't go past black canvas for a user. That's what I'm getting. Paper is a bit smooth and delicate for me. Looks nice though.

Where are you located Rusty ??? Three of us here in Sydney generally ALWAYS have some large box of Busse combined for us all. You have to be carefult to keep the value of the order under $1K or (as we found last time with the 1311s) you can get billed for the GST/Duty ETC.

Chris, not for long. After you use and washing a few times paper micarta starts going greyish on all edges/ridges.

As Andy pointed out, too much in the box attracts the attention of the treasurer... And with all the failed budget surplus talk it looks like they are really vigilant in the last few months.

This is reason I usually buy multiples. $25 per knife is easier to justify than $50 for 1.

Well that's my excuse anyway :)

I have a feeling 2 mean street knives will be on the way soon.... I was going to get 511's but hey $225 for an infi blade is a sweet deal by any standards...

G'day Rusty ! Andy and Elof speak wise words. We 3 are in Sydney and meet fairly regularly......

Not far from sydney, I'm just on the central coast (charmhaven) so only an hour or so from Sydney and get down that way a bit, have a few relatives that live penrith / fairfield areas

I hadnt thought of our 1k customs limit :(

Either way if there's room in anyone's package for another mean street, happy to pay my share of postage if it saves a dollar that I can spend on beer when I come and pick it up ;)

I guess it would be easier if money was transferred to one party then ordered instead of multiple orders to busse with one postage address to save confusion?

Cheers rusty

Rusty,
Lexi and Pokey have been very helpful with our combined purchases. I think by now we've done every possible variant for settling things.
As I wrote earlier, customs have been more vigilant in the last few months. They didn't make any fuss over 5 TGLBs in one box, but a few months later they 'asked' us to pay taxes for 8 1311s...
Even as we chat here an order at Swamp is being made for two of us.

Are you sh#ting me? I'm on the CC....Ssshhhhhh! A little further north, say 15 mins.
I'm expecting to pay 10% tax on a recent purchase. For this one I don't mind at all! :D

I use one of the US mailbox services, and postage is cheap and easy to combine from lots of sources into one box before sending. Works pretty good for me.

Ahh I have another infi freak nearby and never knew it small world hey,
yeah 10% extras a small price for infi happiness!!

We"ll have to catch up to talk knives and shit one day mate, my shout ;)

I wish I lived there sometimes :)

Th 10% is the easy part :( buy that is also charged on the actual price plus 5% Duty (so the cost of the blades plus 5% + postage is the base price the 10% is calculated against) then the f&$kers add $48 as a processing fee when it is the importer who has done everything except tapping the calculator to do the sums....!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
