Australian Axes

Hi, I was told Hytest made 3, Challenger [blue] I got one for a birthday present when I was 12. Craftsman [green] I have one with craftsman stamped on it and one the same with hytest forged tools stamped on it, and Forester [red]. There is a hytest, stamped 5 forged tools for sale and I wanted to know if it is a Forester or are the stamped ones different axes.

Well it sold for $152, and it was old & rusty, so I might contact the buyer and see what he knows. Mine is stamped 4 1/2, but is pitted on that bit only, it's a good little axe.

Sorry I was slow to answer...was checking a few books for info, and I got distracted and forgot.

I guess it's a bit late to help in the case of that auction, but I don't think I could have helped much anyways.

I really know more about the hytest racing axes, which are cool. I am looking into picking one up, to use for winter training and possibly one to use for a few random winter shows where frozen wood is a possibility. The steel in them is much softer than the steel in other racing axes, and will take the abuse better.

Thank you both, that axe sure stirred up some people, there's more hytest axes for sale than you can poke a stick at now. Do their racing axes have a name or mark, I'll have a look for you. That one was 5 & 1/2 lbs. I've see theaxehole.com somewhere before, I'll have a look.
