i bought a couple anvils from Dan...his cheaper ones...these are made in some eastern-bloc country...i believe the weights are 157 pounds and 55 pounds...i paid around $400 and $100...the big one, i believe, is the "two-horn classic..." not sure about the 55-pounder...
anyway, i'm not a very experienced blacksmith or knifemaker, but i'm real happy with them...i used a 4x4 hunk of tool steel prior to those anvils and there's obviously no comparison...
the fit and finish on thes- big anvil was pretty good, on the smaller one it wasn't great, but for the money, it was fine... i did a ball-bearing test on the big one and got around 22" from a 24" drop, if i remember correctly...just like Dan mentions on the site...
i have no regrets whatsoever...these are my first real anvils and they're certainly worth the money!
i had some trouble with shipment, but that was fedex's fault...Dan's a good guy and went out of his way to make good on everything...i wouldn't hesitate to buy anvils from him...
