Picked this up at a local gun shop. This is the first benchmade that i haven't bought from an authorized dealer so I'm a little nervous. It feels solid and the action is smooth so i think it is legit. The other thing is there is a slot for a safety switch in the liners that is used in the autos, but this is a manual Folder so that throws me off a little. Also note the cutout for a coil spring in the scale. I assume they just manufacture the liners and the scales the same for both models to simplify the process. Anyway what to you guys think? I Believe this is authentic, but like I said I always buy from authorized dealers. This is a first for me. Thanks.

Thanks guys, its funny how when you purchase from a non authorized dealer you lose sleep wondering if its legit. Got an awesome deal on this one. Maybe its good karma, last week when playing with benchmades at my local dealer i noticed a 940-1 and 940-2 side by side under the glass. But they had them sitting on the wrong boxes. In other words i could have bought a 940-1 for the price of a 940-2, and save about $100. The little devil on my shoulder told me to buy it but instead I informed the lady behind the register. She looked and corrected the mess up, then thanked me. Its a shame we have to deal with counterfeit products. Benchmade puts so much work into making awesome knives and scumbags use Benchmades good name to make a quick buck on an inferior product.
