Has anyone ever seen a custom Mayo that looks exactly like the production models Cutback and Hilo, but without the grayed out blade? I have looked at dozens and dozens...and dozens of pictures of Tom's knives and i have never seen this knife. Just recently i found what seems to be a custom Mayo that is a dead ringer, as mentioned above. Is this a legitimate Tom Mayo custom?

Sorry if this sounds odd, but i am not sure i want to post the website i found this on as i don't want to denigrate their name or anything.I just got real curious because i had never seen it before, and i have seen alot of Mayo's. I am not saying i think it IS fake, i just wondered if anyone else has ever seen this knife. Enable your PM or email stuff and i will paste the pic to you.

Save the pic host it on photobucket and post it here. Or just post the dealers name. That would say a lot as to the auhenticity. Mayo has made so many similar knives over the decades that it's impossible to know everyone that exists and just because u haven't seen one before does not mean it doesn't.

Here it is. Looks exactly like a Cutback or Hilo to me, only without the gray coated blade.

Got your email.......yes that is a knife I made......I call it the RETRO.

It was designed by my friend Raimund Lhotak in Austria........there are not very many of them out there, and was copied from the design of the first two framelocks I ever made. TM

Don't you have found this knife from a French dealer ?
IIRC, this knife has a 6K blade and has been owned by a well known french knife collector.
I have other pictures of this one.

I am still waiting to hear from them about the specs of the knife. If it is indeed a 6K blade, then there goes that. I really only want a 154, S30V...blade. Dang!

It turned out to be an S30V blade, but it is a 3 1/2 inch blade length. That is a bit big for what i am looking for. So...so close, but not quite there. Thanks for all the help.
