Alright, so I just got back to my place and am looking at the pics on an iPad vs phone and just have one more thing to add...
Caveat emptor
The knife is listed on USN.
The pictures I uploaded weren’t good enough quality - I couldn’t grab the actual pictures (on my phone) at the resolution they were shown at. The knife was listed on a couple of other sites AND here on BF - which I never saw until today. I gotta say, the images posted in the listing showed those tiny grooves in the milled areas. I believe it was legit but check out what happened… it’s a pretty cool story..
I started this thread to try and ascertain whether the knife appears legit because it was listed for a very good price by someone with a good rep on another forum. However, being new to this grade of knife and to this maker, I wanted to make sure it was legit before I committed. I did ask several questions over a day and a half period of time and I did get replies but it seemed like the seller only came online once a day to check mail. So, after starting this thread and then talking with
Oklahoma Outlaw
by DM I decided to commit; by sending a “I’ll take it” message to the seller. Waited all night and all day today for a reply. Late in the afternoon I finally got a message from the seller that someone
here on BladeForums beat me to it!!
Apparently someone here put the pictures together with one of those others listings or simply checked the obvious suspects until they found the listing and snagged it. I find that a little sneaky, personally, but maybe I’m just being paranoid. Lol. It’s just funny that this knife has been listed since August 24 on the site where I found it yet coincidentally someone from BF snagged it right before me! Helluva coincidence! BTW, the listing here on BF also hadn’t had any comments on it in several days.
My biggest interest, funny enough, was more in getting a slightly worn knife so that I’d feel better about scratching - I’d already been looking at and talking to JAB about his BNIB version. Sure, the money was also a concern but my biggest drawback was the idea of buying JAB’s knife and putting that first wear mark on it! So, I was pretty irked when I got the news. I rubbed a few pennies and decided to use a credit card (something I detest) to supplement what I had, to meet JAB’s asking price. Decision made.
But, when I got home there was a envelope from my employer in the mail and, when I opened it up, there was a huge (but totally unexpected) bonus check!! ROFLMAO! It’s almost like God was watching and said, “here ya go! Go get that Shiro that you
know is authentic from JAB and enjoy it!!” Divine intervention or pure luck - I don’t care. Personally, I think it was the former but either way is fine with me.
So guess who JAB is sending that 100% authentic, BNIB Shirogorov NeOn R20?? Yeah, THIS guy! Lol! Thanks for being do patient JAB!!
Kinda cool how things turn out! Hope the guy that had such
miraculous timing enjoys that knife as much as I’m going to enjoy mine.
