Hello everyone,
I recently acquired a dagger that I believe is a traditional Jile (Gile) dagger from the Horn of Africa (Ethiopia / Somalia / Afar region). I would greatly appreciate your help in confirming its authenticity and providing an estimated value.
Here are the details:
Blade: clean, no rust, with subtle hand-made cross-hatching pattern (for grip / decoration)
Handle: black and white rings, appears hand-crafted
Pommel / Guard: brass, slightly rounded, traditional design
Sheath / Scabbard: hard, double-layered, stitched by hand
Overall impression: looks entirely handmade, authentic craftsmanship, no modern markings or stamps
I’ve attached several photos showing the blade, handle, and scabbard.
Could you please give me your thoughts on:
Whether this is an authentic Jile dagger?
Its likely age or origin?
Estimated value for collectors?
Thank you very much for your time and expertise!
