I am writing to verify the authenticity of a Benchmade Adamas fixed blade knife in my possession.

I am a member of the U.S. military, and I purchased this knife several years ago at a military PX (Post Exchange) in California. While I have always trusted the source of my purchase, some fellow knife enthusiasts recently raised questions about its authenticity based on specific design features.

I would like to confirm if this is a legitimate variant or a rare production run. Here are the details and the points of concern:

• Model: Fixed Adamas (Tan finish)

• Steel: Marked as "D2"

• Point of Concern 1 (Spine): This knife has a smooth spine without serrations. According to online resources and community feedback, most D2 steel 375 models (like the 375SN) were released with spine serrations.

• Point of Concern 2 (Logo Placement): The Benchmade butterfly logo is located above the grind line. I have been told that on non-serrated models, the logo is typically placed below the grind line.

I have attached photos of both sides of the blade, including the steel marking and the Sibert Design logo, for your review.

Could you please verify if Benchmade ever produced a D2 steel Adamas with a plain spine and this specific logo placement for military contracts or PX distribution?

Thank you for your time and for your continued support of the military community. I look forward to hearing from you.

Best regards,

Different steel but

I Picked this one up a year or so ago, noticed something odd about it, and just threw it in yhe closet. I don't question the box or sheath or straps. And if it weren't for the missing fuller, I wouldn't have questioned the knife.

If it's a counterfeit then t's the most precise and detailed counterfeit I've ever seen.

The grinds look right for a model that was going to have the saw teeth (which I wish I could have found) but didn't get them.

The chamferring, coating, and all the other grinds look like all the others I've had and seen.

We do make a version of this blade with that coating in D2 for Fed/Gov only sales that does not have the fuller but otherwise looks just like your knife in D2 steel. My guess is there must have been a milling mix up or blade mix up somewhere along the line. This does not appear to be a fake from what I can see.

Different steel but
Yeah, that's the way I took it, and that's what I told my LEO friend, who is on the local CRT, when I gifted it to him. It has been an interesting few years for them here, with some interested characters to deal with.
