Anyone seen one done and/or have reputable referral?
Specifically looking at converting an Alaskan Guide and am willing to put on 'better' scales.

The best conversion is done by a company that uses wire-EDM to cut out the button hole and blade notch. They buy the 110's and 112's in bulk from a distributor and do them all in one shot (it's not their primary focus, and they're not a cutlery company).

Getting them to do *one* knife, and an oddball one at that, could be difficult and time consuming. And risky. (To the knife). :)

Best bet is to check BB or TKA and see if one of the distributors has done it already...if not, email them and explain what you want done...You might get lucky.

FWIW, the Buck warranty is void on any conversion. We do get them sent to us broken from time to time and have to send them back as found.

Thanks Joe,

I had assumed as much anyway.
Why would Buck warranty a knife given that it has been reworked outside the factory? I would not have expected Buck too.

The 110G is affordable enough to try one out in that configuration. I had thought there might be an expert or two who did it on the side, but it seems to be mostly bulk re-manufacture sales.

there is a guy that did a few conversons ...
i had his contact number once ... will look for it again...
he had been stoped for a while when i talked with him in feb..
said he may again later in the summer...
will look for it and find out...
i wander how may would want such a converson ?
you best belive even some dealers get took on some conversons that are knock offs of both CMT and Buck with cheep etching on blades
quality does verry on thoes i seen at shows
lower quality on real bucks is 75 ot 125 and high quality from 125 to 175
thought there are exceptinons to each ...
i did see good ones for sale in virginia for 90$

I definetely pays to ask around when it comes to these. I have one that was a Chinese made counterfiet. They even went to far as to etch BOTH the Buck name and the converters logo on the blade. I have seen them on a certain online auction site from time to time. The one I got came in a plain white box. The etched BUCK, USA, on the blade was my first clue.
