I live in NC and after seeing a few Asheville Steel autos ive been really wanting one. but can i carry it?

im fairly sure they are legal to own, buy, sell and keep on your property.
Ive talked to a cop a while back and he said that you can carry them if you dont have them concealed. meaning clippd outside of pocket (never would do) or belt sheath.

is this true/correct? and if so what auto/sheaths do you use

Yes, you can buy, sell, own and carry them openly in NC (unless otherwise noted). NC only has two laws that would affect switchblades, § 14‑269 and § 14‑269.2. The former is the general concealed weapon law, and naturally only prohibits certain weapons if they are carried concealed somewhere other than your own home. If it's not concealed or your at home, it has no effect. § 14‑269.2 is just a general ban on weapons at schools, and it happens to include switchblades.

Just be warned that your county or city might have tighter restrictions. That's a rule that applies to all states btw, unless they have preemption built into the state law. It's not very likely from what I know of NC, but it never hurts to check.

I am also a native born TARHEEL. after considered study and due diligence of the laws pertinant to NC I also agree it is legal to carry a switchblade in NC - as long as it is not concealed-- which the term {concealed}- in an of itself is a matter of interpertation and as long as you're not on school property.

I've lived here all my life and carried a knife for most of it and to think iv been missing out on some auto joy.
