id like to carry an auto knife but its illegal to do so in my state, i know alot of states are straped for cash, id like to see a carry permit for an auto knife. most ccw permits are in the 100-200 dollar range, who here on this forum would pay 200 bucks for permit to carry an auto knife? i would.

It's already evil enough how many things they charge people for - I wouldn't want to add to it. It's encouraging paying for freedom. "Sure it's legal, just pay us some money" what the hell?

I'm in NY state where autos are illegal. There is, however, an exception for carrying an auto while engaging in hunting or fishing as long as you have the the hunting or fishing licence. That being said, I also climb cell towers for a living and find an auto knife beats most for my work carry as I can both open and close it with one hand by simply holding my thumb in a natural position. With THAT being said, I consider myself free, and carry an auto when I please. If NY were to issue licences for auto (which they never would anyways) I wouldn't go for it. If I'm not harming others by what is in my pocket then who are they to tell me it's wrong? Mark

How often would you consider paying to renew such a license?

With so many great manual models to choose from that are just as fast and easy to deploy, I don't see any real advantage to carrying an automatic knife anyway... but then again, I've never carried/owned one. :o

Nope. Legal to own and carry in my state already. Last thing I want is the feds to get anymore ideas of how to restrict or ideas of how to tax them out of our hands.

Move to a free state that respects its citizens, is my suggestion.

im in texas dont get much more free than that guys drive motorcycles with ak 47s straped to their back, but auto knives earns you a oneway trip to the concrete hilton, their never going to legalize due to the criminal element, just looking for a way that law abiding citizens could carry them on thier person without fear of prison time. cant believe more people wouldnt be on board, i guess not everyone lives in a state where auto knives are looked upon as the scurge of the streets, there is hope for the rest of us then.

oh if you had said texas from the get go......:)

maybe something you should try to get a grassroots started at the state level. meaning more so, try reaching out to sympathetic state politicians and already existing organizations? if your grass root movement can get texas to see the light. cause when crime rates don't get affected, and they won't. hopefully citizens in other not as free states see it, and it will spread like concealed carry.

i'm not for a paid license idea though. it just gives govt another opportunity to regulate more than they already do by changing the rules and fees and excluding more and more, and another way to tax us for freedoms.
