Just got this one yesterday. I've had one before and knew when I sold it that I would eventually replace it, and the time finally came up. The fit and finish on it is top notch, blade is perfectly centered when closed, and the edge is screaming sharp. The Crossfire action takes very little time to get used to, and having had one before it took me only 30 seconds to get it down. I like that you can use this to lock the blade closed and also to lock it open. While I don't particularly care for serrations, and this is the only way this knife comes, they do not take up a lot of room on the blade and are fairly shallow. I can live with them. One thing I'll mention about the auto action is that it is not the fastest I've had. It seems to be in the realm of the BM Axis Auto knives. Now I tighten the pivot a little because I don't care for the loud "CLACK" that an auto can make when opening so that has some to do with the opening action. Slow or not I really like the design and execution of this knife.

Btw, I took the clip and turned it into a foldover style that puts the whole knife down inside my pocket. It's not hard to do as long as you have a torch and a dremel style tool.:)

Anyone else have one with some comments they would like to add, please do so.

I've carried mine since it was originally released and have had no issues with it. The Crossfire action is really great, totally reliable and safe. It has never accidentally released, even bouncing around on a really loose cargo pocket. Mine seems reasonably fast, seems about as fast as my 0610, but definitely not as fast as my Breakout (almost can't see it opening). I haven't really had to do much maintenance to it either.

In case anyone isn't familiar with the Crossfire action here is an animation of it on a T.A.S.C. Moving the button toward the spine disengages the safety. Moving the button toward the butt of the knife releases the blade to open or close it (same as on a Hawk Lock). While the blade is open, you can move the button back to the safe position, which will prevent the lock from being released.

Overall it is a great knife. If you can carry an auto, I highly recommend it .

The 0650ST is a sweet machine and as all ZT knives , it is a tank of a knife, I only wish they had made it in a Plain edge. The 0500 is great too, nice photo Kneedeep of the two together.

Hey Cutter, how thick is the blade on yours? Was it a recently manufactured model, or did your new one spend some quality shelf time before you rescued it?

The blade is 1/8" thick, or .125". Most places I see it advertised it says the blade is .156" thick or 5/32". The serial number is 1027. or close to that. I suspect it did spend quality time on a shelf before getting to me. Please don't tell me that it now has the thicker blade.

No no, I don't know. I'm very curious though, as the listed stock thickness tends to be different than the actually knife. So I was wondering if something had changed along the way.

That blade style is my favorite of all the ZT's (could do without the serrations though).
I only wish they had a non-automatic flipper version of it for those of us who live where automatics are illegal!
I love the look of the new ZT flipper thats coming out but i'd love it even more if it had a (non-serrated) 0650 style blade.

I don't think there was ever a change. I think that it is simply a misprint, as all of the other folders, first generation if you will, have .156" thick blades. It would be nice to have the thicker blade, but I don't see the one it has being a problem! This is definately a sweet piece of cutlery.

I am active military and I have been carrying it around with me now for..6 weeks? hardly ever notice it in my ACU's. This knife is my perfect match. I have tried Benchmade Black models (AFO II) and various other knives, and this one is the winner!!! i think the deployment is fast enough. i don't see how an extra 1/3 of a second opening could have any detrimental consequences. The blade shape is awesome for every day tasks. given, the blade is very big to just be whipping out and opening mail, which is why i have a OD-1 or leek on me as well! but this knife has not failed me at all and by far the best auto...best knife...i own! It is also fun to see all the guys on post rolling around with Taiwanese made CRKT's or similarly embarrassing gerbers stop and ask me what type of knife it is and then ask me if they can see it or use it! they fall in love with it too.

Cutter17, its funny that you said you tighten the pivot and that the blade isn't particularly fast. Gavin said he'd seen slow ones and he just loosened the pivot a tiny bit to fix it. Too bad they don't have the shock absorbing stop pins like on the customs.
