I was thinking of getting an autoclip, & i was wondering
what your experiences with the adjustable tension pocket clip are?

is it a big hassle?
cheap?
too good to be true?
the best thing since sliced bread?
overrated?

thanks for your help.

SOG's Site:
"To avoid knife loss, we developed the AutoClip series that features the only adjustable tension pocket clips in the world! A quick-turn thumb wheel that allows the knife to be securely attached to thick or thin pockets, belts and packs adjusts this extraordinary clip-on device for extended locking carry."

Chucklehead, I have a couple of these and really like them, the clip is one of the best parts about it. You just tighten the clip very tight and it will not come off of jeans or even thin material. Or you can adjust it wide and clip it to a belt/webbing, top of boot or even socks, knife is so light you will never know it's there, it really is a wonderful idea and not cheap by any means. I have used mine for about two years now and it is still tight and never changes, well worth the money.

I've had my Auto clip for a year now and the clip is still working great! :D I have the Outdoor Mini Autoclip. It's one cool little knife. Works great in the kitchen and to open packages. The clip is one of the reasons why I got the knife. Holds strong and is easily adjusted. Wish SOG would come out with some more blade shapes or use BG-42 in more of them.

I have a variety of the X-42 and Mini-X-42 Autoclips. I took your questions one by one.

is it a big hassle? No hassle at all. Easy to use. Easy to adjust. I adjust all the time for jeans, Dockers, etc.

cheap? Nope. The Zytel is strong!

too good to be true? Nope. Wonderful feature!

the best thing since sliced bread? It might slice bread but I've never tried it.

overrated? Nope. Great feature. Gave one to my brother and he loves it. He's able to adjust for all clothes.

Get one. You'll love it. I carry a Mini X-42 in my left pocket as my second knife...
