Automatic knife without spring in NY

I have Protech Stinger (Small switchblade) with a 2" long blade. The spring has been removed and it is no longer automatic in any way. You need to press the button with one hand and open the blade with the other hand to deploy the blade. You cannot "flick" it open. Would this be a legal knife to carry in New York, both NYC and elsewhere within the state?

Seems to me that it is no longer an auto, so I would think you would be fine.

If it can't open as a "gravity" or "inertia" knife, it's probably fine.

Out of curiosity...why bother? I thought the max in NY was 4"...?

I prefer a short blade. I really like the feel, shape, look, and utility of this knife. I have been unable to find anything else I like as much in a non auto. It weighs only 2 oz.
