Hi all.. I'm not sure whether any of you can help me or whether or not this is the forum to post in with inquiries of this sort but here goes. My occupation requires me to visit Buffalo N.Y. on an almost daily basis. I have a very limited knowledge of the area let alone American sporting good chains that would offer a variety of knives. So far I have discovered Dick's, but I am looking for any sporting goods or knife specific walk in businesses that would have brands like Spyderco, S.O.G., M.O.D, Cold Steel etc in stock.. If any natives could give me some names it would be greatly appreciated.
Secondly, if anyone knows of a store in Buffalo where I can find a Pro-tech Godfather (auto) or any autos for that matter from recognized manufacturers like Benchmade, M.O.D. etc, please do share. That information would be equivalent to the holy grail in my mind. Thanks in advance.

There are two other stores that you can check out. There is a Gander Mountain off of the 290 at the Colvin exit in the city of Tonawanda; you can see it from the 290. They used to have a nice selection there but every time I go there I tend to notice less and less Spyderco and I don't think that they carry Benchmade anymore. There is also The Buffalo Gun Center. They are located on Harlem road by the 33 in Buffalo. They have a real nice selection there, Benchmade, Spyderco, Sog, Cold Steel, Chris Reeve, almost some thing from every major brand.

As to automatics, they are illegal to carry or be sold to anyone but LEO unless you have the proper permit from the state DEC declaring you eligible to carry one while hunting or fishing.

Good luck with your search. If you need directions to anywhere just shoot me an e-mail and I can probably give you what you need.

Mere is right as autos can't be sold to the public in NY. On long Island there are several gun stores that offer them for sale to LEOs, although that is a somewaht legally gray area as the NYPL does not define who is a authorized dealer for autos.
The DEC permit is a fishing, hunting or trapping license, but that only allows for carry of a gravity knife or switchblade while doing those activities or going directly to and from them.....does not allow you to buy one, as it was meant to Grandfather in use for those who owned one when they were banned back in 1958....
