Autonomy 2: The Auto-Smock?

I've been carrying an Autonomy 2 most days for the past year. I never gave the lock much thought, but I gave it a thorough look and it sure seems like it uses a Compression Lock.

The actuator button pushes the Compression Lock over, just like the button on a Smock. The only difference is that the blade is under load from the spring on the Autonomy 2, so pushing the button moves the lock over and also fires out the blade.

Do I have that right?

What does it matter?

FWIW, while there may be a mechanical similarity (and don't know if there is any or not) in how the Autonomy (or any other auto) operates as compared w/the Smock (and other compression lock folders), the similarity is irrelevant because the auto is spring driven and compression lock folders have to be released manually and the internal design of these knives is not interchangeable.

I'm just curious if the Auto2 is a Compression Lock knife in terms of how it locks open. That would be a new type of auto, at least to me.
