Just trying to figure out if automatic knifes are legal to own in Colorado.Ive looked into some forums and the specific laws but things seem to be a little bit fuzzy for me.Some people claim there are loop holes, legal to own but not carry, ect.I want to know because I was thinking about purchasing an automatic but I can't tell if its legal or not, can I have an auto shipped to me from a distributor?or am I better off doing a face to face transaction,Thanks for the help in advance

There is a Knife Laws section that is specific to these questions.

Seeing as how Spyderco is based on Colorado, they stopped making autos, that would tell me that unless you are a cop or on active duty in the military, they are illegal.

Illegal to own period, due to "possession" itself being a misdemeanor.

18-12-102. Possessing a dangerous or illegal weapon - affirmative defense

....
(2) As used in this section, the term "illegal weapon" means a blackjack, gas gun, metallic knuckles, gravity knife, or switchblade knife.
....
(4) A person who knowingly possesses an illegal weapon commits a class 1 misdemeanor.
(5) It shall be an affirmative defense to the charge of possessing a dangerous weapon, or to the charge of possessing an illegal weapon, that the person so accused was a peace officer or member of the armed forces of the United States or Colorado National Guard acting in the lawful discharge of his duties, or that said person has a valid permit and license for possession of such weapon.
