Being a bush bashin fella, my knives tend to get grubby.
My little can of Turtle Wax chrome polish finally ran out, so I tried Brasso to keep my blades clean and shiny. Well, Brasso, in a word, SUCKS. For knives, anyway.
I haven't been able to find the Turtle Wax chrome polish locally at all, which I have found to work pretty well for cleaning and protecting my knives over the years.
At the local auto parts distributor, I stumbled across a German metal polish called Autosol. To my complete amazement and happiness, I've found this stuff to be superior to anything I've used before! It puts a beautiful shimmer on steel, and I tried some on this little damascus dagger I've got which is starting to look a little spotty and man, what a shine! Looks better than ever. The stuff only cost 10 bucks which was cheaper than the Flitz they had at the hardware store, which I heard works pretty good too, but that stuff is pretty spendy for what ya get.
Anyway, for those of you who tend to get schmutz on your blades, this Autosol is pretty great. I don't know what it will do to your blades over the long term, so my disclaimer here is that I'd ask someone in the know before using it on your knife.
