Hi, wilderness mates.
I'm doing my business these days and it's going not so bad, thanks to your encouragement.
As we're getting into winter at last, I will post some of my late autumn walks.

A young gecko in front of my house, trying to find a winter roosting place.

Dried persimmons. They are popular dried fruit of winter, taste better when dried as the tannin get condensed to be solid.

A morel mushroom. Shame too late to find it as I've heard it is good to eat.

Shiitake with obligatory blade shot. These are not wild ones. Grown indoor within my house.

Thanks for lookng.

Very nice scenery and quite different from what we see in this forum

Do you grow the shiitake mushrooms from seeds/spores?

No, I've obtained a piece of wood prepared.
Other than those in the shots, I'm trying to grow from seeds but
I've heard it takes a year or so to get Shiitake.

is that moss underneath the yellow leaves, that pic looks great!!!!

Thanks, ratamahatta. The summer was exceptionally hot this year that the autumn leaves
get a good colour.

I dont think that is a morel. Its a good imposter though. Maybe its a stinkhorn. The bottom is not attached to the stem. Glad you didnt eat it.

Awesome photos as always Fujita! That one with the leaves just screams Autumn.

Wow, your persimmons are a lot bigger than the ones I find here. I was just muching on some earlier today on a hike. I like them after the frost, wish ours were that big!

I have always wanted to visit Japan, your photos only reinforce my longing.

lambertiana, you should try it. maybe next year.

dipbait, thanks for mushroom ID.

Those persimmons came from a neighbour of mine who has some persimmon trees in the guarden, mistwalker.
And thanks for your words on my autumn leaves shot.

Thanks, leinenkugel. Just wanted to share my field as great shots of great fields are
kept posting on this forum.

Thanks PDE.
We have quite amount of bush, mountains and forest in Japan.
They have very different face in different seasons. You'll not be disappointed.

I brought home some seeds from the persimmons I ate on my last hike. I hope to plant them, but I have to look up how they are best done. I know some seeds have to be frozen first and others have to pass through a digestive track.

I love that shot, great colors. Are those Maple leaves laying on a dark moss?

I've heard the persimmon tree of my neighbour is the one grown up from seed, after eating the fruit.
So that I guess you'll have a result in time.

And yes, the leaves are on a dark moss of certain temple's guarden.

Cool, I'm wanting to plant a few around the perimeter of my property.

Really nice picture, love the color contrast
