This knife and the accompanying keepsakes are rather special to me so I thought they deserved their own thread. I received the package today from Paris, France.
Some time back, Jolipapa had posted some pics of a knife that he bought at a little cutler shop in Auxerre, France. I saw the pics and was mesmerized by the unique pattern so I contacted Jolipapa and asked what the knife was called so I could try to find one.
Jolipapa proceeded to inform me that it was an Auxerrois Tonneau and that it was an SFO from a little cutlery shop in Auxerre, France. The stainless steel spear blade is what makes it exclusive to the shop. The shop has no website and the only way I could get one on my own was to contact the shop by telephone and see if I could work something out. I've never spoken a word of French in my life so Jolipapa offered to order the knife for me, have it shipped to his address, and then send it on to me. We arranged payment and a couple short weeks later the package landed in my hands.
Here's the knife. I was surprised to discover how solid this knife is. This knife is no joke. Good strong pull and tight construction all around. Has a good heft to it as well which also attests to quality. This is a rock solid knife. The blade is stainless steel but I don't know what kind of stainless. I'm guessing 12C27 but that's only a guess. Handle slabs are real nice Blue Acrylic.

There is one problem with the knife and I'm not sure how to resolve it. My wife has gotten a hold of it and she won't give it back to me!:grumpy:
The keepsakes that Jolipapa included are also very special to me. I only expected the knife pictured above and the little gifts were a very pleasant surprise. I hope Jolipapa understand how much these mean to me. They are very special to me and I will cherish them always. The little pen knife has handle slabs that appear to be Ivory Cassien and it even has its own little sheath with snap closure. The coin is 2 Francs and the pin is representative of the Burgundy region which is where the shop that has the SFO's is located.

I don't get sentimental often but I say with great pride that I'm touched by these little keepsakes that my friend Jolipapa has passed on to me. The knife he helped me obtain is special as well because I could not have gotten it without his help but these little keepsakes from across the sea are really something.
Thank you, my friend.
