Every knife outlet I've checked is back-ordered on the tan and OD handled SBMFs. Are they not yet on the market, or just scarce right now? I really like the look of the tan model. I have a black one.

Thanks!

I'm going to guess that they are scarce right now. I was able to get one in each color from my dealer and they all had the same manufacture date on the box.

If you are like me, you have a bunch of black handled knives and a little color every once in a while is a good thing.

The brown/tan handled model, looks particularly sharp with the black coated blade. My wife even remarked on it. I have a Gerber LMF II which is the same combination of colors, so I figure they would compliment each other in my collection. I just got my Strider/Buck ML today, and it's black on black, like my black SBMF. The SBMF design is seriously rugged. It's been my EDC knife since I got it. I'm just looking to get the brown one! There doesn't appear to be a knife specialty store around where I live, or I'd be in there bugging them! :(

It looks like they were simply backordered. As many times as I saw that they were out of stock with so many suppliers, I'm please that I'll be getting mine soon.

spraay--any issues with the liner lock? I don't suppose you're a lefty like me? I'm aware that the clip is reversible, but how do you think it would be for a lefty to manipulate the liner lock? And do you have confidence in the lock? Some liner locks I've seen are dubious.

Lost J,

I am not a lefty. The liner lock is STIFF when new. I chewed up my thumb a little bit until I got a bit of a callous there. This is a stout knife and the liner lock is no exception. Now that I'm used to it, it's not bad. I've had a couple of other knives (Gerber and Kershaw) that had comparably 'easy' locks, that took less effort to unlock. I'm not sure easier is better.

Hey I just bought one of the tan ones also .. My wife helped me pick the color.. just to make her feel like she was a part of it..

Here is a place that has them in stock.. KNIFEWORKS $6.95 ground shipping to lower 48

I bought from a forumite off here though.. but this was going to be my second choice.. I recieved an email from them stating they had several in stock for sale..

Jefff,

My wife also said that she like that color. I now have a black and a brown model. I believe the handle color is supposed to approximate the Coyote Brown in the Marine Corps uniforms. I think it is a sharp offset to the black oxide blade. Unfortunately the black oxide coating on mine leaves more than a bit to be desired. I think the nice folks are Buck are trying to figure out how to make an oxide coated blade look nice.
