There was inquiry yesterday on what the standard issue SEAL's knives were; and it was answered here:

What I want to know, are what are some of the verifiable, true commercially-available knives which are the product of ACTUAL collaboration (i.e. published design specs, submission for testing, etc.) between Spec Ops units and knife makers?

I'm pretty sure the SOG SEAL Knife was one such product. Others?

SOG SEAL 2000, Mission MPK, and Mad Dog ATAK. Oh, there were original SOG knives from Vietnam too, but good luck finding one! The current company SOG makes repros of them, if you want one.

Other than than, I don't know of anythign else off hand. THere are some blades that are used more often than not by SpecOps people. I think Striders, Busses, Mad Dogs (among SEALS anyways) and the Tac 11/Tac 10 from that Josomebodyorother guy too. Oh, don't forget the Wally Hayes Tac 1 as well, a fine piece from the PRez of the Canadian Knifemakers Guild.

Most of TOPS line were co-designed and tested in action by SEAL Team 3 and others. Also, the owner, Mike Fuller, is a 3-tour veteran in Vietnam with Special Forces.

Thanks Javahead!

If Javahead has underwear on, he's got his Tac blade with him. ;) If you are looking for a great "tough as nails" blade, go with a Tac 11. If you have any questions about it, e-mail Javahead. He's the real deal and has experience backing up his words.
